Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Clinical value of dual-energy spectral imaging with adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction for reducing contrast medium dose in CT portal venography: in comparison with standard 120-kVp imaging protocol.
To evaluate the clinical value of dual-energy spectral CT with adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASiR) for reducing contrast medium dose in CT portal venography (CTPV). ⋯ Compared with conventional 120-kVp CT, the use of 60-keV spectral CT images provides 25% contrast dose reduction with similar image quality in CTPV. Compared with conventional 120-kVp CT, the use of 60-keV spectral CT images with ASiR algorithm improves CNR values for the intrahepatic portal vein.

The aim of the study was to compare epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) characteristics assessed with coronary calcium score (CS) and CT coronary angiography (CTCA) image data sets. ⋯ EAT may be measured by processing either the CS or CTCA image data sets.

Perinatal and paediatric post-mortem magnetic resonance imaging (PMMR): sequences and technique.
As post-mortem MRI (PMMR) becomes more widely used for investigation following perinatal and paediatric deaths, the best possible images should be acquired. In this article, we review the most widely used published PMMR sequences, together with outlining our acquisition protocol and sequence parameters for foetal, perinatal and paediatric PMMR. We give examples of both normal and abnormal appearances, so that the reader can understand the logic behind each acquisition step before interpretation, as a useful day-to-day reference guide to performing PMMR.

To assess the feasibility of a 70-kVp CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) protocol using simultaneous dual-source (SimDS) acquisition mode with 40 ml of contrast medium (CM) and comparison with a high-pitch spiral dual-source (SpiralDS) acquisition protocol with automated tube potential selection (ATPS). ⋯ 70-kVp SimDS-CTPA with 40 ml of CM is feasible in patients with a BMI up to 35 kg m(-2) and can help reduce radiation exposure and CM in these patients.

Usefulness of the fast spin-echo three-point Dixon (mDixon) image of the knee joint on 3.0-T MRI: comparison with conventional fast spin-echo T2 weighted image.
To compare the quality of two different imaging methods, three-point Dixon (mDixon) and fast spin-echo (FSE) T2 weighted image (T2WI) [and fat suppression (FS) T2WI], and to assess the utility of mDixon for the imaging of knee joint pathology. ⋯ The mDixon images have equivalent anatomic identification abilities, with the exception of cruciate ligament delineation on in-phase images and have a diagnostic performance comparable with that of FSE T2WI for meniscal, cartilage and ligament injuries of the knee joint.
