[The evaluation of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty with or without patellar resurfacing].

[Selection of treatment modalities in children with chronic osteomyelitis].
We evaluated clinical and follow-up findings and treatment methods of pediatric patients with chronic osteomyelitis. ⋯ The results of surgical debridement and antibiotic treatment are satisfactory in more than half of the pediatric patients with chronic osteomyelitis. However, those developing segmentary bone defects after surgical debridement require bone reconstruction procedures.

[Can procalcitonin be used for the diagnosis and follow-up of postoperative complications after fracture surgery?].
We investigated the effect of fracture surgery on serum procalcitonin levels and the value of procalcitonin in differentiating inflammatory reaction caused by fracture surgery from postoperative infective complications. ⋯ Procalcitonin may prove to be a useful parameter to identify early postoperative systemic complications after fracture surgery.

Case Reports[Limitation in subtalar motion in a patient nine years after treatment for medial subtalar dislocation].
Subtalar dislocations are rare injuries. They may cause serious complications in the long-term. A 27-year-old professional soldier developed medial subtalar dislocation of the right foot due to fall from height and was treated with closed reduction under general anesthesia and below-knee cast fixation for six weeks. ⋯ He had no stiffness or instability. The ankle-hindfoot score was 90 according to the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society clinical rating system. It should be recalled that, following treatment of subtalar dislocations, some degree of loss may occur in subtalar movements.

Case Reports[Traumatic obturator hip dislocation in a five-year-old boy: open reduction after a six-week delay in diagnosis].
Hip dislocations are relatively uncommon in children, they may occur before five years of age as a result of seemingly trivial trauma. A 5-year-old boy was admitted with knee pain six weeks after a fall from bed. ⋯ Owing to the late presentation and without attempting closed reduction, the patient was treated with open reduction and capsulorrhaphy. At the end of a year follow-up, the patient had no complaints and no functional restriction.
