Comparative Study[Comparison of plate-screw fixation and intramedullary fixation with inflatable nails in the treatment of acute humeral shaft fractures].
We compared the results of plate-screw fixation and intramedullary fixation with inflatable nails for the treatment of acute humeral diaphyseal fractures. ⋯ Inflatable intramedullary nails can be used safely in the treatment of acute humeral diaphyseal fractures without increasing union problems and complications.

[The importance of finger extension test in the diagnosis of occult wrist ganglion].
The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of diagnostic tools in comparison with surgical results of occult ganglion cyst of the wrist, which is one of the causes of chronic wrist pain. ⋯ Finger extension test is an important diagnostic tool for occult ganglion with 92% accuracy. Both diagnosis and treatment of occult ganglion cysts have become easier by evolving diagnostic tools.

[Hot saline irrigation as an alternative local adjuvant therapy in local aggressive bone tumors].
This study aimed to develop an alternative thermoinactivation method for biological inactivation of microscopic contamination on the cavity wall following curettage of local aggressive tumors. Hot saline irrigation was applied at various temperatures to bone cavity, with or without tourniquet on the extremity and temperature changes and local effects were investigated in vivo. ⋯ Our results show that, in order to achieve bone necrosis at 1-mm and 2-mm distances from the cavity wall, the optimum temperature for hot saline irrigations applied to the bone cavity is 80 degrees C.

Review[Osteotomies in the treatment of osteochondral lesions of the knee joint].
Excellent results of total knee arthroplasty have outweighed high tibial osteotomy applications in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee joint, but there is a growing interest in osteotomies as an adjunct in the treatment of full-thickness chondral and osteochondral lesions of the knee. Abnormal biomechanics in both tibiofemoral and patellofemoral articulations resulting from instability and malalignment should be corrected and osteotomy should be regarded as the first step in the treatment of these lesions. ⋯ Clinical, radiographic, and experimental studies have shown beneficial effects of osteotomies on cartilage regeneration. The aim of the osteotomy is simple: cartilage needs proper biomechanical environment for healing.

[Total hip arthroplasty in patients with osteoarthritis secondary to developmental dysplasia of the hip: results after a mean of eight-year follow-up].
We evaluated eight-year results of total hip arthroplasty in patients with osteoarthritis secondary to developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). ⋯ Successful results can be obtained with good planning and proper surgical procedures in the treatment of osteoarthritis secondary to DDH.
