Short-term results of the Oxford phase 3 unicompartmental knee arthroplasty for medial arthritis.
We evaluated short-term results of the Oxford phase 3 unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) in patients with medial compartment arthritis. ⋯ Our findings show that, with proper patient selection and strict adherence to the surgical technique, short-term results of the Oxford phase 3 unicompartmental knee prosthesis are excellent or good in the treatment of medial compartment osteoarthritis.

The aim of this study was to evaluate surgical treatment and follow-up results of patients who presented to our department with sciatic nerve injuries. ⋯ Low expectations after sciatic nerve repair in the past are now being rapidly replaced by a more optimistic approach. Advances in microsurgery and use of treatment algorithms based on scientific research account for this significant improvement in outcomes after sciatic nerve surgery. Tendon transfers can enhance the success rate and be combined with nerve repair in selected cases.

Randomized Controlled TrialAllogeneic blood transfusion decreases with postoperative autotransfusion in hip and knee arthroplasty.
We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of postoperative autotransfusion method on prevention of the need of allogeneic blood transfusion in hip and knee arthroplasty. ⋯ The need and amount of allogeneic transfusion were reduced with postoperative autotransfusion in both knee and hip arthroplasty groups with greater extent in knee arthroplasty.

Complications encountered in proximal humerus fractures treated with locking plate fixation.
We evaluated the complications encountered following locking plate fixation of proximal humerus fractures. ⋯ Our findings show that locking plate and screw systems represent a significant treatment option in the treatment of comminuted and displaced humerus fractures, with low complication rates. Accurate indication, protection of the head's inclination angle through appropriate surgical approach and proper technique, and fine calculation of screw length are essential for successful functional results.

We evaluated the radiographic and functional results of the proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) system in patients with unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures. ⋯ Due to advantages of high union rate, early postoperative mobilization, and short operation time, PFNA osteosynthesis is the method of choice for surgical treatment of unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures..
