Very amusing and entertaining for the traveler, marine activities in tropical countries can be dangerous. More and more trauma caused by hazardous marine animals have been reported in recent years in the world, after maritime accidents including water sports like windsurfing, kite surfing, swimming, diving, and injuries caused by sting or contact with a marine animal. Rays and stone-fish frequently cause trauma, but there are not many cases of injury by needlefish. This case reports a case of penetrating wound of the left foot caused by a Caribbean needlefish occurred during a session of windsurfing in Martinique.

Review Case ReportsThe successful use of vancomycin-impregnated cement beads in a patient with vancomycin systemic toxicity: a case report with review of literature.
We report the use of vancomycin laden antibiotic cement beads in a patient with calcaneal osteomyelitis who had prior acute kidney injury (AKI). The patient experienced non-oliguric renal failure after exposure to intravenous vancomycin and recovered well after antibiotic discontinuation and adequate hydration. We are not aware of any similar case report where vancomycin laden antibiotic cement has been used in a patient with AKI to vancomycin.

Review Case ReportsThe scaphocapitate fracture syndrome: a case report and literature analysis.
Scaphocapitate fracture syndrome is rare, complex injury. We report an unusual presentation of scaphocapitate fracture syndrome, involving fracture of the scaphoid and capitate associated with volar dislocation of the lunate and scaphoid and the proximal fragment of the capitate in a 30-year-old male after a motor vehicle accident. ⋯ The scaphoid fracture was fixed using a headless compression screw, and the volar displaced proximal fragment of the capitate was reduced to its original position, but could not be fixed because of severe comminution. This case cautions that the capitate fragment should not be excised even when it cannot be fixed due to comminution.

Case ReportsBrown-Séquard syndrome in a 11-year-old girl due to penetrating glass injury to the thoracic spine.
Injuries in children are one of the most frequent causes of high morbidity and mortality, and they present a challenge to the treating physician. Fortunately, spinal trauma in pediatric patient is relatively rare. Brown-Séquard syndrome is a rare form of incomplete spinal cord injury consisting of ipsilateral upper motor neuron paralysis (hemiplegia) and loss of proprioception with contralateral pain and temperature sensation deficits resulting from hemisection or lateral injury to the spinal cord. ⋯ Operative decompression of the neural elements in case of spinal canal compromise is the treatment of choice. Indication for surgical intervention in existing cerebrospinal fluid fistula includes closure of the dura and reducing neural elements compression and lowering the risk of infectious complications by removing bone or foreign body fragments. Patients with Brown-Séquard syndrome have good prognosis for functional recovery.

Case ReportsCervical spondylodiscitis associated with oesophageal perforation: a rare complication after anterior cervical fusion.
Anterior cervical instrumented fusion is a commonly performed spinal surgery with relatively low complication rate. Especially, spinal infections are very rare and often associated with oesophageal perforation secondary to hardware migration. We present a rare complication of cervical spondylodiscitis in a 24-year-old man after an anterior cervical fusion. ⋯ Five years postoperatively motor and sensor function had returned to normal limits. Dysphagia or deterioration of preexisted dysphagia in the late postoperative setting should be considered carefully and evaluated for oesophageal perforation and complicated spinal infection. In the case of not completed fusion, removal of the implants followed by meticulous debridement and insertion of titanium mesh cage, filled with autogenous bone graft lead to successful fusion and infection eradication.
