Predictors of radial nerve palsy recovery in humeral shaft fractures: A retrospective review of 17 patients.
Radial nerve injury is common in humeral shaft fractures and fails to recover spontaneously in 30% of cases. Few studies have evaluated predictors of recovery. The objectives of this study were to identify predictors of radial nerve palsy recovery and to assess the usefulness of surgical radial nerve exploration in patients with preoperative radial nerve palsy. ⋯ IV, retrospective study with no control group.

Biomechanical strength and failure mechanism of different tubercula refixation methods within the framework of an arthroplasty for shoulder fracture.
Tuberosity repair in shoulder fracture prosthesis implantation still remains a challenge often leading to poor functional outcomes, despite a variety of materials and suggested suture patterns. We aimed to evaluate, which forces currently used suture and cerclage materials withstand and to assess whether they are useful with regard to stability of reconstruction of tuberosities and which failure modes they display. ⋯ Basic science, Biomechanics.

Correlation between radiographic parameters and functional scores in degenerative lumbar and thoracolumbar scoliosis.
Adult scoliosis is a condition in which the spinal deformity occurs because of degeneration. Although various studies have agreed on the importance of restoring the sagittal balance, few have evaluated the relationship between functional scores and radiological parameters. The primary objective of this retrospective study was to demonstrate the correlation between radiographic parameters and functional outcomes in adult patients with lumbar or thoracolumbar degenerative scoliosis. The secondary objective was to assess the long-term effects of posterolateral fusion for treating this deformity. ⋯ IV.

Successful outcome with minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis for periprosthetic tibial fracture after total knee arthroplasty.
The incidence of periprosthetic fractures after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is increasing, and treatment is becoming more necessary. In periprosthetic tibial fractures, the stem of the tibial component largely occupies the medullary canal of the proximal tibia, which limits the selection of implants. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) technique with locking plates for periprosthetic tibial fractures after TKA. ⋯ IV.

Lumbar spinal muscles and spinal canal study by MRI three-dimensional reconstruction in adult lumbar spinal stenosis.
Lumbar spinal stenosis is degenerative disc disease most common manifestation. If stenosis degree seems poorly related to symptom severity, lumbar muscles role is recognized. Many studies report imaging methods, to analyze muscle volumes and fat infiltration (FI), but remain limited due to the difficulty to represent entire muscle volume variability. Recently a 3D muscle reconstruction protocol (using the deformation of a parametric specific object method (DPSO) and three-point Dixon images) was reported. It offers the ability to evaluate, muscles volumes and muscle FI. ⋯ 3.
