To determine the extent to which Chinese medical (CM) journals incorporate Consolidated Standards for Reporting of Trials (CONSORT) into their "instruction to authors". ⋯ The endorsement of CONSORT by CM journals' "instruction to authors" was not satisfactory. The spread of CONSORT endorsement should be wider in instructing the performance of CM clinical trials in the future. Chinese journals should introduce CONSORT to their authors and require authors to comply with CONSORT when they submit their research.

To observe the anti-virus effects of andrographolide (AD) on the retinoic acid-inducible gene-I (RIG-I)-like receptors (RLRs) signaling pathway when immunological cells were infected with H1N1. ⋯ The RLRs mediated viral recognition provided a potential molecular target for acute viral infections and andrographolide could ameliorate H1N1 virus-induced cell mortality. And the antiviral effects might be related to its inhibition of viral-induced activation of the RLRs signaling pathway.

Chinese medicine (CM) basic theory differs substantially from modern medicine in methodology. CM views the healthy human body as an entity in yinyang equilibrium. ⋯ This concept might seem strange to Western perceptions; however, CM philosophy and methodology have been gradually accepted and used in the West. There is growing evidence from prestigious worldwide journals like Nature, Science and Cell indicating that CM theory is becoming an important component in dealing with health issues in the West.

To review the herbal drugs most often used throughout history for the treatment of osteoporosis; to study their property, flavor and meridian attribution; and to explore their compatibility. ⋯ Deficiency is the primary pathogenetic factor in osteoporosis, along with "stagnation" and lack of flow of water or blood. Clinical treatment of osteoporosis should be based on Kidney, Liver and Spleen (Pi) supplementation, and complemented by diuresis and dissolution of stasis, while paying attention to adjustment of the spirit.

To investigate the correlation between different Chinese medicine (CM) syndromes and variations in microcirculation in septic shock patients. ⋯ Sublingual microcirculation may serve as a clinical diagnostic parameter of the patient condition, as well as being a prognostic indicator.
