Review Meta Analysis
Red ginseng for type 2 diabetes mellitus: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials.
Red ginseng (RG, Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) is one of the widely used herbs for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). However, no systematic review of the effectiveness of RG for type 2 DM is available. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the current evidence for the effectiveness of RG in patients with type 2 DM. ⋯ The evidence for the effectiveness of RG in controlling glucose in type 2 DM is not convincing. Few included studies with various treatment regimens prohibit definitive conclusions. More rigorous studies are needed to clarify the effects of RG on this condition.

Seventy percentage of perimenopausal and early postmenopausal women will experience menopause symptoms. Primary menopause symptoms in Western countries included hot flashes, insomnia, somatic pain, depression, and fatigue. Hot flashes were most commonly treated. ⋯ The recent systematic reviews on acupuncture in menopausal symptoms suggest that acupuncture is an effective and valuable option for women suffering from menopause. However, the science of acupuncture therapies is still inadequate to sufficiently support the benefits of acupuncture therapies. Finally, we discuss our points of view on clinical trials of acupuncture for menopause symptoms.

Clinical observation on the acupuncture treatment in patients with urinary retention after radical hysterectomy.
To observe the acupuncture therapy effect on the urinary retention after radical: hysterectomy. METHODS METHODS: Eighty cases of urinary retention after radical hysterectomy were randomly assigned to: the treatment group and control group according to the random number table method, 40 cases in each group. From the 15th day post operation, the patients in the two groups started to be treated and 7 days as a course with 5 days treatment and 2 days interval. The treatment group applied acupuncture with modalities of common needling on Zusanli (ST36) bilaterally, electroacupuncture on Sanyinjiao (SP6), Shuidao (ST28), and Scalp Reproduction Area bilaterally, moxibustion on Shenque (CV8). The control group applied acupoint injection with vitamin B B12 12, and Sanyinjiao and Zusanli were selected. Take turns on both sides. The courses for the recovery, of bladder function and residual urine volume for those who had voluntary micturition more than 200 mL after the first and second course of treatment were compared between the two groups. ⋯ Combination of acupuncture: modalities was better than acupoint injection for the recovery of bladder function in urinary retention after radical hysterectomy. It would shorten the course of treatment and get a better recovery, decrease urinary retention cases of refractoriness, and extending the treatment could raise the healing rate of urinary retention.

Yiqi zhuyu decoction combined with FOLFOX-4 as first-line therapy in metastatic colorectal cancer.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of yiqi zhuyu decoction (YZD) combined with oxaliplatin plus 5-flurouracil/leucovorin (FOLFOX-4) in the patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (MCRC). ⋯ YZD combined with FOLFOX-4 chemotherapy significantly improved OS in this first-line trial in the patients with MCRC and significantly decreased grade 3/4 AEs. However, RR was not improved, and PFS did not reach statistical significance by the addition of YZD. The treatment of YZD combined with FOLFOX-4 may be necessary in order to optimize efficacy and safety.

Protective effects of the preconditioning with different doses of sodium aescinate on tourniquet-induced ischemic reperfusion.
To evaluate the protective effects of sodium aescinate (SA) preconditioning on the tourniquet-induced ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury after limbs operation. ⋯ The protective effects of SA preconditioning on tourniquet-induced limb I/R injury might possibly contribute to the increasing of SOD levels, and MAP and the decreasing of MDA and NO levels.
