To evaluate the effects of Xuebijing (XBJ) injection in heat stroke (HS) rats and to investigate the mechanisms underlying these effects. ⋯ XBJ can alleviate HS-induced systemic inflammatory response syndrome and liver injury in rats, and improve outcomes. These protective effects may be due to the ability of XBJ to inhibit cytokine secretion by KCs.

Effect of Jianpi therapy in treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a systematic review.
To evaluate the efficacy of Jianpi therapy in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in stable phase by performing a systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ The experience in TCM-WM treatment of COPD in stable phase was encouraging. The current evidence shows that TCM-WM treatment might be more efficient in effective rate, quality of life, and FVC than WM treatment alone. But for forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and FEV1/FVC, no matter TCM-WM treatment compared with WM treatment alone or TCM treatment compared with placebo, there was no significant difference, with no obvious adverse reactions. Due to the low methodological quality of trials included, more RCTs of high quality in large scale are required.

Efficacy of acupuncture during post-acute phase of rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether acupuncture is effective in reducing pain and swelling around the knee and improving range of motion (ROM) during the post-acute phase of rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ Acupuncture provides effective treatment during the post-acute phase of rehabilitation after TKA with respect to pain relief, reduction of swelling around the knee, and early recovery of ROM.

Therapeutic evaluation of lumbar tender point deep massage for chronic non-specific low back pain.
To observe the therapeutic effect of lumbar tender point deep tissue massage plus lumbar traction on chronic non-specific low back pain using change in pressure pain threshold, muscle hardness and pain intensity as indices. ⋯ Lumbar tender point deep tissue massage combined with lumbar traction produced better improvement in pressure pain threshold, muscle hardness and pain intensity in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain than with lumbar traction alone.
