Meta Analysis
Heat-sensitive moxibustion for lumbar disc herniation: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
To assess the efficacy and safety of heat-sensitive moxibustion in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH). ⋯ Compared with conventional moxibustion, acupuncture, and diclofenac sodium, heat-sensitive moxibustion in the treatment of LDH is superior in efficacy. Further large-scale trials are required to define the role of heat-sensitive moxibustion in the treatment of this disease.

H1N1 was a new and potentially serious infectious disease, in human, the severity of influenza can vary from mild to severe, thus to find an effective and safety way to control the influenza pandemic is of crucial importance. This retrospective study describes the duration of viral shedding in H1N1 patients that were hospitalized and treated in China. ⋯ TCM therapy is effective for reducing the length of virus shedding in patients with body temperature > or =38.0 degrees C. Oseltamivir used for reducing virus shedding duration should be taken within two days of onset.

To assess the effectiveness and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment of non-acute bronchial asthma complicated by gastroesophageal reflux. ⋯ The clinical symptoms of non-acute asthma complicated by gastroesophageal reflux can be improved by some Chinese drugs. Curative effects can be increased by combining the use of TCM with Western medicine. Because of the small quantity and low quality of research reported to date, it is necessary to conduct further RCTs to confirm these results. The results of this systematic review indicate that the quality of future clinical trials should be improved by including larger patient numbers, correctly randomizing patients into study groups, using blinding methods to measure and assess outcomes, and using accepted indexes to evaluate curative effects.
