Multicenter Study Observational StudyRisk factors for difficult Laryngeal Mask Airway LMA-Supreme™ (LMAS) placement in adults: a multicentric prospective observational study in an Italian population.
Supraglottic airway devices (SADs) are precious tools for airway management in both routine and rescue situations; few studies have analyzed the risk factors for their difficult insertion. ⋯ The alignment of the laryngeal and pharyngeal axes seems to facilitate the procedure, together with NMBA administration; on the contrary, Mallampati grade III-IV are associated with difficult LMAS placement.

The management of pediatric severe traumatic brain injury: Italian guideline.
The aim of the work was to update the "Guidelines for the Management of Severe Traumatic Brain Injury" published in 2012, to reflect the new available evidence, and develop the Italian national guideline for the management of severe pediatric head injuries to reduce variation in practice and ensure optimal care to patients. ⋯ In recent years, progress has been made on the understanding of severe pediatric brain injury, as well as on that concerning all major traumatic pathology. This has led to a progressive improvement in the clinical outcome, although the quantity and quality of evidence remains particularly low.

Serum G protein-coupled estrogen receptor-1 levels and its relation with death in patients with sepsis: a prospective study.
The sex hormone estrogen has an immune-supporting role in both trauma and sepsis-related to its immune-modulator role. The aim of the current study was to examine the prognostic role of (serum G Protein-coupled estrogen receptor-1) GPER-1 in sepsis and sepsis-related mortality. ⋯ Serum GPER-1 can be used as a new prognostic factor for survival in patients diagnosed with sepsis.

ReviewCOVID-19 patients in the operating room: a concise review of existing literature.
A novel Coronavirus was identified in late 2019 as the cause of COVID-19 disease which is highly contagious. SARS-CoV-2 is a single-stranded RNA, enveloped virus from the beta Coronavirus family. ⋯ This review article was designed to synthesize the existing evidence and experience related to intraoperative management of COVID-19. This review provides a summary of clinical guidance and addresses six domains: principles of intraoperative monitoring, airway management and related difficulties, ventilation, type of anesthesia, medications and side effects, and intraoperative fluid management.
