Case Reports
Rapid resolution of acute subdural hematoma and effects on the size of existent subdural hygroma: a case report.
The diagnosis and management of acute subdural hematoma is important in neurosurgery practice. Rapid spontaneous resolution of acute subdural hematoma within a few hours is seen rarely on the CT scan. ⋯ The resolution of acute subdural hematoma and effect of acute subdural hematoma on subdural hygroma must be considered during management. The relation of acute subdural hematoma and subdural hygroma is important for the resolution and management of acute subdural hematoma.

The goal of this clinical study was to evaluate the capability of intraoperative ultrasonographical examination to demonstrate the sectioning of the transverse carpal ligament during open surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome with limited uni skin incision (mini skin incision technique). ⋯ We suggest the use of ultrasonography for intraoperative checking of the sectioning of the transverse carpal ligament during the surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome with limited uni skin incision.

Suprasellar arachnoid cyst: a 20- year follow-up after stereotactic internal drainage: case report and review of the literature.
Approximately 9 to 15% arachnoid cysts occur in the sellar or suprasellar region. The optimal management of symptomatic suprasellar cysts continues to pose a challenge to neurosurgeons. This case report describes a patient with a suprasellar arachnoid cyst who presented at the age of 3 and was followed for 20 years after cystoventriculostomy. ⋯ During a follow-up of 20 years, signs of precocious puberty disappeared and the girl showed normal sexual development. Endocrine profiles and visual function remained normal. The stereotactic approach to suprasellar arachnoid cysts is a safe procedure in experienced hands.

A retrospective study was conducted to assess the surgical outcomes of degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis. Thirty-four patients treated with decompressive surgery in Departments of III. Neurosurgery, Bakirkoy Hospital for Psychiatric and Neurological Diseases between 2000-2004 were reviewed. ⋯ Only one patient (%3) with two level laminectomy and 17 degrees postoperative sagittal rotation angle showed a significantly poorer clinical outcome and accepted instable. This study showed that, treatment of degenerative lumbar stenosis can be safely and effectively performed with standard laminectomy alone, resulting no significant sagittal plane instability. We concluded that single decompressive surgery offers satisfactory results in degenerative lumbar stenosis.
