The brachial plexus (BP) has a complex structure and risky relations with its neighborhoods. This study was designed to investigate and overcome the morphometric features of the BP and the difficulties regarding surgery of BP lesions. ⋯ From the ventral rami to the cords, BP has a complex and variable anatomic structure. The selection of surgical procedure to the BP needs to be mastered by having the best knowledge of the relevant anatomy.

Comparative Study
Comparative research of the thin transverse sectional anatomy and the multislice spiral CT on Pterygopalatine Fossa.
To explore a method to obtain sub-millimeter data of the thin transverse section of the pterygopalatine fossa (PPF), and to study the thin transverse sectional anatomy of the adult pterygopalatine fossa and its communicating structure for providing anatomic gist for the imaging diagnosis and minimal invasive operation when PPF diseased. ⋯ Figures of thin transverse section and multislice spiral CT have highly consistency for the display of PPF. Both of them can correctly identify the micro-structure, the complex relationship of the connectivity and the spatial localization in the narrow space of PPF. It can provide reference gist for the imaging diagnosis and minimal invasive operation.

Historical Article
A short history of the microsurgery training and research laboratory at Gulhane Military Medical Academy.
Microsurgical techniques have played a crucial role in the development of neurosurgery and microsurgical education has an involuting role to gain surgical competence in neurosurgery. Microsurgery laboratory at Gulhane Military Medical Academy (GMMA) was established in 1985 by Prof. Erdener Timurkaynak within the Research-Development Building. ⋯ Over the past twenty-five years, 288 courses had been held in the microsurgical laboratory and more than 1000 surgeons from different fields and specialties were trained. Many of them conducted hundreds of research projects and published scientific papers during this period. This laboratory enters in the 21st century as a dynamic research and education center committed to the continuing delivery of education, as well as ongoing research of microsurgery for the coming 100 years.
