To evaluate the clinical effect of micro-surgical decompression of greater occipital nerve for greater occipital neuralgia (GON). ⋯ Micro-surgical decompression of the greater occipital nerve is a safe and effective method for greater occipital neuralgia. We believe our findings support the notion that the technique should also be considered as the first-line procedure for GON.

Colloid cysts are rare benign tumors of the third ventricle with diverse clinical presentation, which vary from incidentally found cysts to acute death. An uncommon hemorrhage in these cysts is a life threatening complication which can cause obstructive hydrocephalus with acute deterioration of the patient and sudden death. We present a case of 35-year-old man with large hemorrhagic colloid cyst of a third ventricle causing acute obstructive hydrocephalus even though magnetic resonance image with low T2 signal of the cyst suggested its clinically stable nature. Only 3 cases of in vivo diagnosed hemorrhagic colloid cysts have been reported in the literature.

Transforaminal epidural steroid injection via a preganglionic approach for the treatment of lumbar radicular pain.
To evaluate the effectiveness of transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) for lumbar radiculopathy with respect to effect of injection levels, gender, and age group. ⋯ Especially in the patients with severe co-morbidities TFESI is an option to provide higher life quality. The clinical course of the success of the TFESI decreases in one year and becomes stable thereafter. In the patients with immune deficiency, the practitioners should always be aware for an infectious complication.

In traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients, to overcome the secondary insults, cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) oriented therapy is recommended. The study is assigned to estimate CPP values with middle cerebral artery (MCA) flow velocities measured noninvasively using transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (TCD). ⋯ With ICP monitoring systems, CPP is calculated and the therapy is guided according to these values. As it is recognized that brain perfusion can be assessed with TCD waveforms, noninvasive CPP estimation with MCA flow velocities may help to observe the trends in CPP values.

Seizures are a frequent complication in patients who undergo neurosurgery, and can complicate the post-operative course and deteriorate patients' quality of life. Evidence on the prophylactic anticonvulsant therapy after craniotomy is still lacking. ⋯ In this study population late postsurgical seizures had a remarkable occurrence. Newer AEDs were continued more often than conventional AEDs, with a better tolerability but no significant differences in late seizures incidence.
