To develop a model based on machine learning to predict surgical site infection (SSI) risk in patients after lumbar spinal surgery (LSS). ⋯ This study developed a machine learning model and a web predictor for predicting SSI in patients after LSS, which may help clinicians screen high-risk patients, provide personalized treatment, and reduce the incidence of SSI after LSS.

Endovascular treatment of cervical internal carotid artery (ICA) loop dissections in acute stroke interventions can be challenging. Flow diverters can effectively reconstruct vessel loops and treat the injured vessel and provide a safe conduit for intracranial catheterization. ⋯ Use of flow diverters, in some cases in conjunction with (carotid) stents, is an effective treatment option for cervical carotid artery (loop) dissections.

The purpose of our bibliometric analysis was to explore the disciplinary hotspots and collaborative networks in research on neuropathic pain (NPP) during in the past 20 years. ⋯ The research of NPP is a well-developed and prospective field of medical study. The journals Pain, European Journal of Pain, and Molecular Pain showed more interested in this field. The United States, Harvard University, and Ralf Baron were the top country, institution, and author, respectively. Global research collaboration was extensive, with the top institutions and authors cooperating with others.

Intra-arterial nimodipine (IAN) injections are performed in refractory delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) related to cerebral vasospasm (CVS) after spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (sSAH), but the clinical benefits are inconclusive and angiographic treatment failure is observed. We analyzed angiographic IAN response in a detailed vessel-specific manner and examined the impact of poor angiographic response on the further clinical course. ⋯ The risk of angiographic treatment failure is significantly increased in older patients and those with poor WFNS grade as in cases of early-onset CVS. Although the extent of angiographic CVS significantly affected the development of DCI-related infarction, poor angiographic response had no impact on cerebral infarction and clinical outcome.

The purpose of this retrospective cohort study was to investigate the impact of smoking on patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) following elective posterior cervical decompression and fusion (PCF). ⋯ Univariate analysis found that smokers have worse symptoms at baseline. However, smoking status was not an independent predictor of improvement in ΔPROMs following elective PCF.
