Conventional 2-Dimensional magnetic resonance imaging-based neuronavigation systems can improve the maximal safe resection in brain tumor surgery but can be unintuitive. A 3-Dimensional (3D)-printed brain tumor model allows for a more intuitive and stereoscopic understanding of brain tumors and adjacent neurovascular structures. This study aimed to identify the clinical efficacy of a 3D-printed brain tumor model in presurgical planning by focusing on differences in the extent of resection (EOR). ⋯ A 3D-printed brain tumor model could be utilized in presurgical planning to effectively determine the EOR.

Most surgical journals are published in English, representing a challenge for researchers from non-Anglophone countries. We describe the implementation, workflow, outcomes, and lessons learned from the WORLD NEUROSURGERY Global Champions Program (GCP), a novel journal-specific English language editing program for articles rejected because of poor English grammar or usage. ⋯ The WORLD NEUROSURGERY Global Champions Program mitigated a critical barrier to publication in an English language journal for authors from non-Anglophone countries. This program promotes research equity by providing a free, largely medical student and trainee operated, English language editing service. This model or a similar service can be replicated by other journals.

The convex frontal bone is covered by thin skin, rendering its reconstruction cosmetically challenging. Customized alloplastic implants provide better contouring than autologous bone, yet their high cost and availability limit their application. We assess customized titanium mesh implants precontoured using patient-specific three-dimensional (3D) printed models for late frontal cranioplasty. ⋯ Precontouring of titanium mesh implants using in-house 3D-printed models could optimize cosmetic and surgical outcomes in late frontal cranioplasty. Preoperative planning could permit minimal access surgery, which could be aided by the endoscope in select cases.

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (PE-TLIF) in patients with L4-L5 degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis (DLS) with instability. ⋯ In patients with L4-L5 DLS with instability, PE-TLIF under conscious sedation and local anesthesia could be an effective supplement for open decompression and fusion.

Although technologic advances have improved the surgical outcomes of tuberculum sellae meningiomas (TSMs), the treatment of these tumors remains challenging given important neurovascular structures involvement. In this article, the authors retrospectively reviewed the effectiveness of retractorless surgery for TSMs via the frontolateral approach (FLA). ⋯ Retractorless surgery via the FLA is a reliable transcranial option for the treatment of TSMs. High rates of GTR, excellent visual outcomes, and the low incidence of complications could be achieved if the surgical strategy mentioned in the article is adopted.
