Ecchordosis physaliphora (EP) is a non-neoplastic notochord remnant with limited literature. We present a review on surgically resected clival EP to evaluate if available follow-up is adequate to distinguish EP from chordomas. ⋯ Mean follow-up for resected EP was almost 3 times shorter than mean time to recurrence of chordomas. Available literature is likely inadequate to confirm the suspected benign nature of EP especially in reference to chordoma, precluding treatment and follow-up recommendations.

Low back pain (LBP) is a common cause of disability worldwide; multiple causes and risk factors have been proposed in the genesis of back pain. Some studies reported an association between diastasis recti abdominis (DRA), a surrogate for decreased core strength muscle, and low back pain. We aimed to investigate the relationship between DRA and LBP through a systematic review. ⋯ Of the studies included in this systematic review, 61.5% did not find an association between DRA and LBP whereas a positive correlation was observed in 38.5% of studies included. Based on the quality of the studies included in our review, better studies are warranted to understand the association between DRA and LBP.

In recent decades, a significant body of research has focused on targeted therapies for the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) tumors to enhance the effectiveness of management strategies. However, most of these efforts have been centered in high-income countries, which renders the generalizability of their results to low- and middle-income countries questionable. Therefore, in this review, we systematically investigated the status of research conducted on targeted therapy for CNS tumors in low- and lower-middle-income countries to elucidate the contribution of these countries in advancing neuro-oncology. ⋯ Low- and lower-middle-income countries comprise more than half of the world population, but they are deprived of targeted therapies against CNS tumors. Although there are basic experiments performed on this subject, they originate in a limited number of these countries. Therefore, targeted therapy is in its preliminary stage in these countries.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a prevalent devastating condition causing significant morbidity and mortality, especially in developing countries. The pathophysiology of SCI involves ischemia, neuroinflammation, cell death, and scar formation. Due to the lack of definitive therapy for SCI, interventions mainly focus on rehabilitation to reduce deterioration and improve the patient's quality of life. ⋯ In animal models of SCI, VNS significantly improved locomotor function by ameliorating inflammation and improving plasticity, suggesting its use in human subjects. SCI patients also suffer from nonmotor complications, including pain, gastrointestinal dysfunction, cardiovascular disorders, and chronic conditions such as obesity and diabetes. VNS has shown promising results in alleviating these conditions in non-SCI patients, which makes it a possible therapeutic option in SCI patients.

External Ventricular Drain Placement Teleproctoring Using a Novel Camera-Projector Navigation System: A Proof-of-Concept Study.
Teleproctoring is an emerging method of bedside clinical teaching; however, its feasibility has been limited by the available technologies. The use of novel tools that incorporate 3-dimensional environmental information and feedback might offer better bedside teaching options for neurosurgical procedures, including external ventricular drain placement. ⋯ Camera-projector systems for bedside procedure proctoring and navigation are a viable and valuable technology. We demonstrated its viability for external ventricular drain placement as a proof-of-concept. However, the versatility of this technology indicates that that it could be useful for a variety of even more complex neurosurgical procedures.
