Inflammatory markers for the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with endovascular therapy remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between the systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) with unfavorable functional outcomes at 90-day in individuals of AIS who underwent endovascular therapy. ⋯ Higher SIRI and NLR levels at admission may lead to unfavorable outcomes at 90 days for AIS patients with endovascular therapy.

Population-based studies on the cause of readmission within 90 days after surgery or radiotherapy for metastatic spine tumors are scarce. We aimed to investigate the risk factors for readmission within 90 days after initial surgical or radiation treatment for metastatic spine tumors. ⋯ These study findings offer a better understanding of the causes of readmission following radiotherapy or surgical treatment in patients with metastatic spine tumors, and these results can help reduce postoperative morbidity and medical costs among these patients.

In this preliminary study, we investigated the value of fusion techniques by flat detector computed tomography based dual volume rotational angiography (DVRA) for the evaluation of the anatomical relationship of cavernous sinus dural arteriovenous fistula (CSDAVF) and assessed the possibility of transvenous target segment embolization. ⋯ Detailed anatomical information including accurate fistula point, specific feeding arteries, and draining veins could be obtained with various dual volume image fusion techniques. In addition, the target segment embolization of CSDAVF could be possible with understanding of the precise CSDAVF architectures.

Magnetic resonance-guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (MRgLITT) is a new minimally invasive treatment for tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC)-associated epilepsy in children. This video describes a case of a 17-year-old girl with TSC-associated drug-resistant epilepsy treated with robotic-assisted MRgLITT. In our case, MRgLITT was safe and effective in simultaneous targeting of multiple epileptic tubers in 1 single procedure, leading to a marked decrease in seizure frequency. MRgLITT could be a promising and more appealing treatment option for children who may need multiple surgeries over their lifetime as a result of the progressive nature of TSC.

Intraoperative photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) using 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is a widely adopted technique to enhance the extent of resection during high-grade glioma (HGG) surgery. Recent updates to the package insert for 5-ALA in Japan now allow its use in combination with drugs that may induce photosensitivity, such as talaporfin sodium (TS). TS is employed in intraoperative photodynamic therapy (PDT) and has been shown to improve overall survival. The combination of 5-ALA with TS is expected to offer further benefits. However, the safety of this combination had not been established. This study reports on the safety of 5-ALA-PDD with TS-PDT in the treatment of recurrent HGG. ⋯ The combined use of 5-ALA-PDD and TS-PDT for HGG surgery did not increase the risk of serious adverse events in our study. Further investigations with a larger number of cases are needed for a more accurate assessment of its safety and efficacy.
