To explore the predictive value of transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) combined with quantitative electroencephalogram (QEEG) in delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) caused by aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). ⋯ Patients with aSAH complicated by DCI have relatively higher MBFV of middle cerebral artery and ADR. Combined use of the 2 indicators can provide reference for early prediction of DCI in aSAH patients.

Comminuted fractures of the anterior skull base can easily cause dural damage, leading to cerebrospinal fluid leakage and retrograde infection. Skull base reconstruction is essential. This study aimed to present a novel and simple technique for repairing skull base defects using a self-made fascia-bone fragments-fascia "sandwich" structure made by fascia, fracture fragments, and sutures. ⋯ For patients with comminuted fracture of the anterior skull base, the fascia-bone fragments-fascia structure could repair the skull base and prevent the occurrence of cerebrospinal fluid leakage.

The relationship between modic changes and endplate sclerosis in patients with lumbar degenerative disease: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.
To explore the relationship between modic changes (MCs) and endplate sclerosis in patients with lumbar degenerative disease. ⋯ Endplate sclerosis occurs in all kinds of MCs. With increasing grade of MCs, the incidence of endplate sclerosis gradually increased. The endplate sclerosis rate in mixed-type MCs was significantly greater than that in MC2 and significantly lower than that in MC3. The endplate sclerosis rate in the mixed-type, including MC3 (MC1/3 and MC2/3), was significantly greater than that in the MC1/2.

Unilateral vs Bilateral Cages in Lumbar Interbody Fusions: A Meta-Analysis of Clinical and Radiographic Outcomes.
Bilateral cages are often used for interbody fusion. However, this procedure may not be possible in some cases making unilateral cages a reasonable alternative. The literature remains divided on the clinical and radiological distinctions when comparing unilateral to bilateral cages in lumbar interbody fusion. Thus, this meta-analysis will analyze the clinical and radiographic outcomes between these 2 groups. ⋯ Unilateral cages were shown to be superior due to their reduced OR time and estimated blood loss. As for the higher rate of pseudoarthrosis, this outcome may not be related to the cage numbers and it did not affect clinical outcomes. Nevertheless, one must consider other factors such as radiographic sagittal parameters before making a surgical decision.
