Surgical clipping is a valuable treatment option for unruptured intracranial aneurysms in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the comprehensive impact of clipping and perioperative three-dimensional computed tomography angiography (3D-CTA) on renal function remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of perioperative 3D-CTA and surgical clipping on renal function in patients with CKD. ⋯ Surgical clipping of unruptured intracranial aneurysms and perioperative 3D-CTA with normal-dose contrast media did not impair renal function in patients with CKD. These results could be valuable in determining treatment strategies for those with CKD and intracranial aneurysms.

Single Position Lateral versus Prone Transpsoas Lateral Interbody Fusion Inclusive of L4-L5: A single surgeon experience examining early post-operative outcomes.
The transpsoas lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) procedure is a minimally invasive lumbar spine approach that provides indirect neural decompression, improved sagittal alignment, and a high fusion rate. Typically accompanied by posterior pedicle screw insertion, there has been interest in performing LLIF in a single position to decrease cost and time under anesthesia. However, there is a paucity of direct comparisons between single-position LLIF via prone versus lateral decubitus positioning. Therefore, this study aims to compare the outcomes of a single surgeon performing prone versus lateral single-position LLIF, inclusive of the L4-L5 level. ⋯ This study demonstrates promising preliminary results indicating that single-position LLIF performs well, even at the L4-L5 level, in both the prone and lateral positions.

High-fidelity visualization of anatomical organs is crucial for neurosurgical education, simulation, and planning. This becomes much more important for minimally invasive neurosurgical procedures. Realistic anatomical visualization can allow resident surgeons to learn visual cues and orient themselves with the complex 3-dimensional (3D) anatomy. Achieving full fidelity in 3D medical visualization is an active area of research; however, the prior reviews focus on the application area and lack the underlying technical principles. Accordingly, the present study attempts to bridge this gap by providing a narrative review of the techniques used for 3D visualization. ⋯ The visualization of virtual human organs has not yet achieved a level of realism close to reality. This gap is largely due to the interdisciplinary nature of this research, population diversity, and validation complexities. With the advancements in computational resources and automation of 3D visualization pipelines, next-gen applications may offer enhanced medical 3D visualization fidelity.

Correlation Between Pituitary Adenoma Surgery and Anxiety Disorder: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of surgical intervention on anxiety levels in patients with various types of pituitary adenoma (PA). ⋯ Our analysis revealed no significant difference in anxiety scores pre- and postoperatively. While our findings suggest stability in anxiety levels following surgical intervention, it is imperative to recognize the limitations of the current evidence base. The observed lack of consensus may be influenced by factors such as the heterogeneous nature of the patient population, variations in the characteristics of pituitary adenomas, diverse therapeutic approaches, and potential confounding variables such as pre-existing mental health conditions and coping mechanisms. Further research is warranted to elucidate the nuanced relationship between surgical intervention for PA and anxiety outcomes, considering these complex interactions and employing rigorous methodologies to address potential sources of bias.
