Perform radiologic measurements and analysis of normal brain computed tomography (CT) scans; delineate a new ventricular entry point from cutaneous landmarks, highlighting the potential surgical implications of these findings. ⋯ The freehand technique for accessing the lateral ventricles is a common neurosurgical procedure but is often accompanied by complications. To address this, we suggest a novel entry point for ventricular access, determined by cutaneous reference points. This point is situated 12.4 cm posterior to the nasion along the midline and 2.1 cm lateral to the midline. Although our findings may play a role in presurgical planning for ventricular pathologies, future prospective studies are warranted.

High volume (HV) has been associated with improved outcomes in various neurosurgical procedures. The objective of this study was to explore the regional distribution of HV spine centers for cervical spine fusion and compare characteristics and outcomes for patients treated at HV centers versus lower volume centers. ⋯ Patients who underwent cervical spine fusion surgery at HV hospitals were less complex and had increased odds of length of stay ≤1, favorable discharge, and total charges in the lower 25th percentile than patients treated at non-HV hospitals. Physician comfort, patient selection, institutional infrastructure, and geographic characteristics likely play a role.

This study aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy of percutaneous endoscopic suprapedicular decompression in treatment of down-migrated lumbar disc herniation. ⋯ The treatment of down-migrated lumbar disc herniation via a suprapedicular approach enabled the incision of the superior margin of the pedicle as needed under direct vision, involved less fluoroscopy while preserving facet joint stability, and enabled targeted removal of the herniated nucleus pulposus, thus greatly reducing residual nucleus pulposus. This surgical procedure was safe, rapid, and showed satisfactory therapeutic efficacy.

Anaplastic oligodendroglioma (AOD) is a rare high-grade central nervous system tumor. The current research on prognostic prediction of AOD remains limited. This study aimed to identify prognostic factors and establish the nomograms to predict overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) for patients with AOD. ⋯ We successfully established the nomograms to predict the OS and CSS for AOD patients. The nomograms showed good performance in prognostic prediction, assisting clinicians in evaluating patient prognosis and personalizing treatment plans.

Aneurysms located in the distal middle cerebral artery (DMCA) are relatively rare and lack an established treatment strategy. For DMCA aneurysms, we performed a one-stage combined procedure of endovascular parent artery occlusion (PAO) with coils and superficial temporal artery to middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) bypass in a hybrid operating room (HOR). The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this procedure. ⋯ The one-stage combined PAO and STA-MCA bypass in the HOR is safe and effective for DMCA aneurysms, potentially serving as a treatment option for this complex aneurysm.
