Machine learning and deep learning techniques offer a promising multidisciplinary solution for subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) detection. The novel transfer learning approach mitigates the time constraints associated with the traditional techniques and demonstrates a superior performance. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and CNN-based transfer learning models in differentiating between aneurysmal SAH and nonaneurysmal SAH. ⋯ CNN-based transfer learning models can accurately diagnose the etiology of SAH from computed tomography images and is a valuable tool for clinicians. This approach could reduce the need for invasive procedures such as digital subtraction angiography, leading to more efficient medical resource utilization and improved patient outcomes.

Reports on the management and survival of children with myelomeningocele defects in Bangladesh are limited. This study describes the characteristics and outcomes of these children, focusing on the timing of surgical repair and factors affecting survival. ⋯ Timely neurosurgical repair of myelomeningoceles in Bangladesh is hindered by late patient presentation, resulting in a high preoperative patient death rate. Neurosurgical intervention remains a significant predictor of survival. Increased access to neurosurgical care and education of families and non-neurosurgical providers on the need for timely surgical intervention are important for improving the survival of infants with myelomeningoceles.

Treatment of craniopharyngioma typically entails gross total resection (GTR) or subtotal resection with adjuvant radiation (STR-RT). We analyzed outcomes in adults with craniopharyngioma undergoing GTR versus STR-RT. ⋯ Good long-term control was achieved in adults with craniopharyngioma who underwent STR-RT or GTR with no significant difference in local control. First-line treatment for craniopharyngioma should continue to be maximal safe resection followed by RT as needed to balance optimal local control with long-term morbidity.

Medulloblastomas are the most common malignant brain tumors in the pediatric population. Based on the idea that tumors with identical radio-genomic features should behave similarly, the 4 molecular subtypes are now widely accepted as a guide for the management and prognosis. The radiological features of medulloblastomas can predict the molecular subtype; thus, anticipating the subsequent disease progression. However, this has not been evaluated comprehensively. We aim to thoroughly study the association between the molecular subtypes and radiological features of medulloblastomas. Moreover, we aim to investigate the efficacy of this correlation with the use of progression-free survival and 5-year survival rates. ⋯ Our findings did not support the association between most of the typical magnetic resonance imaging characteristics and survival rate. We further established that Sonic Hedgehog and Wingless biological types have a better prognosis. There was no association observed between the radiographic features, specifically the location, and the molecular subtype.

Effects of the use of neuronavigation in patients with supratentorial brain gliomas: a cohort study.
Despite the growing acceptance of neuronavigation in the field of neurosurgery, there is limited comparative research with contradictory results. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness (tumor resection rate and survival) and safety (frequency of neurological complications) of surgery for brain gliomas with or without neuronavigation. ⋯ Neuronavigation improved the effectiveness (greater gross total resection of tumors) and safety (fewer neurological deficits) of brain glioma surgery. However, neuronavigation does not significantly influence the survival of patients with grade IV gliomas.
