The use of robot-assisted laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) is emerging as a viable treatment option for brain tumors in patients aged 80-90 years (octogenarians). Correspondingly, the aim of this study was to describe the clinical feasibility of octogenarians undergoing LITT procedure for brain tumors at our institution. ⋯ Robot-assisted LITT is a safe and effective treatment option for brain tumors in octogenarians with a very low morbidity risk. Therefore, further investigation is required to understand how LITT can translate to therapeutic benefit in patients aged over 80 years old with brain tumors.

This study aimed to establish a predictive nomogram model for recollapse of fractured vertebra after posterior pedicle screw fixation in thoracolumbar fractures (TLFs). ⋯ A clinical nomogram incorporating 4 variables was constructed to predict fractured vertebra recollapse after posterior pedicle screw fixation for TLFs. The nomogram demonstrated good calibration and discriminative abilities, which may help clinicians to make better treatment decisions.

The study investigates how cage positions in oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) combined with posterior percutaneous pedicle screw internal fixation (PPSF) affect lumbar canal and foraminal decompression and postoperative outcomes, providing guidance for optimal placement and efficacy assessment. ⋯ In the OLIF + PPSF procedure, strict requirements for cage position are not necessary to achieve predetermined spinal biomechanical parameters. The practice of repeated fluoroscopy to adjust cage position postimplantation does not provide added clinical benefits to the patient.

The Neurosurgical Research Progress of 98 Low- and Low- to Middle-Income Countries from 1928 to 2024.
The aim of the present study was to analyze the trends of neurosurgical research in low and lower middle-income countries (LLMICs). ⋯ The findings suggest that neurosurgical research in LLMICs is low, which could be attributed to several factors including limited funding, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient training opportunities.

Stress in surgeons is well-known for its negative impact on neurocognition and surgical performance. Surgeons commonly use music for stress reduction, but its specific effects on neurosurgeons remain unclear. This study aims to investigate how listening to music during microsurgery affects neurocognitive (NC) functions, subjective anxiety, and stress levels in neurosurgeons. ⋯ Music appears to reduce subjective stress and task complexity, influencing neurocognition, particularly through speed-accuracy trade-offs. Further research is needed to understand its mechanisms and appropriate contexts for use before widespread recommendation.
