This study aimed to investigate the causes of lumboperitoneal (LP) shunt failure and determine risk factors for lumbar catheter fracture. ⋯ Excessive lumbar lordosis is a risk factor for lumbar catheter fracture in patients undergoing LP shunting. Younger age and higher level of postoperative activities of daily living might also be associated with lumbar catheter fracture.

A 77-year-old man presented with progressive consciousness disturbance, presumably caused by a backward fall. Head computed tomography findings showed a large intracerebral hemorrhage in the left parietal lobe. Radiated fractures with an oval depression of the bilateral parietal bone crossing the midline were noted. ⋯ Biparietal thinning is an uncommon condition noted in radiological findings of a symmetrical oval depression of bilateral parietal bones with reduced diploe thickness. Cases of traumatic brain injury in patients with biparietal thinning have rarely been reported. This condition should be recognized as a possible predisposing factor for traumatic brain injury.

Management of refractory spasticity symptoms remains a challenging task for clinicians. Intrathecal baclofen (ITB) therapy has emerged as a promising option for treating this condition. This study evaluates the effectiveness of ITB therapy in managing refractory spasticity symptoms. ⋯ ITB therapy is an effective and safe option for managing refractory spasticity symptoms. However, the appropriate dosage should be individualized and monitored closely to avoid side effects. This study highlights the importance of carefully considering the potential risks and benefits of ITB therapy for each patient.

Aneurysms located in the distal middle cerebral artery (DMCA) are relatively rare and lack an established treatment strategy. For DMCA aneurysms, we performed a one-stage combined procedure of endovascular parent artery occlusion (PAO) with coils and superficial temporal artery to middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) bypass in a hybrid operating room (HOR). The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this procedure. ⋯ The one-stage combined PAO and STA-MCA bypass in the HOR is safe and effective for DMCA aneurysms, potentially serving as a treatment option for this complex aneurysm.

No standardized magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters have defined the 3-dimensional morphoanatomy and relevant spinal cord occupation ratios (occupation of spinal cord dimensions/similar dimensions within the spinal canal) in congenital cervical stenosis (CCS). ⋯ The stenosis effect can involve any dimension, including the transverse spinal canal dimension, independent of other dimensions. Owing to the varied observed morphoanatomies, a classification algorithm that defines CCS specific phenotypes was formulated. Objectivizing the stenosis morphoanatomy may allow for data-driven patient-focused decompression approaches in the future.
