The head and neck cutaneous melanoma (HNCM) accounts for 20% of newly diagnosed melanoma. Research on prognostic models for their survival yet remains largely unexplored. This study employed a nomogram approach to develop and validate a predictive model for both overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) in patients with HNCM. ⋯ This study established and validated predictive nomograms for HNCM patients with robust predictive performance.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become increasingly used in neurosurgery. Generative pretrained transformers (GPTs) have been of particular interest. However, ethical concerns regarding the incorporation of AI into the field remain underexplored. We delineate key ethical considerations using a novel GPT-based, human-modified approach, synthesize the most common considerations, and present an ethical framework for the involvement of AI in neurosurgery. ⋯ It is critical to address the ethical considerations associated with the use of AI in neurosurgery. The framework described in this manuscript may facilitate the integration of AI into neurosurgery, benefitting both patients and neurosurgeons alike. We urge neurosurgeons to use AI only for validated purposes and caution against automatic adoption of its outputs without neurosurgeon interpretation.

Measuring spinal alignment with radiological parameters is essential in patients with spinal conditions likely to be treated surgically. These evaluations are not usually included in the radiological report. As a result, spinal surgeons commonly perform the measurement, which is time-consuming and subject to errors. We aim to develop a fully automated artificial intelligence (AI) tool to assist in measuring alignment parameters in whole-spine lateral radiograph (WSL X-rays). ⋯ Vertebrai's measurements can accurately detect alignment parameters, making it a promising tool for measuring GSP automatically.

This study describes our experiences with anterior choroidal artery (AChA) aneurysm clipping with a focus on visualizing the AChA just behind the aneurysm to identify the risk factors for adhesion of the AChA or its branches to the posterior wall of the AChA aneurysm. ⋯ The initial course of the AChA just behind an AChA aneurysm can be evaluated using 3D rotational angiography. In contrast to a posteromedial course, a posterior or posterolateral course of the AChA just behind an AChA aneurysm can be a significant risk factor for adhesion of an AChA branch to the posterior wall of an AChA aneurysm.

Percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED) has steep learning curves and a high incidence of complications, but currently, efficient and economical training methods are lacking. This study aimed to validate a novel simulator for PTED. ⋯ This study demonstrates the validity of the novel simulator, revealing significant associations between PTED experience and performance metrics in a simulated PEWC setting. Furthermore, the PEWC module also offers a good realistic design and high education value according to experts.
