The relationship between modic changes and endplate sclerosis in patients with lumbar degenerative disease: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.
To explore the relationship between modic changes (MCs) and endplate sclerosis in patients with lumbar degenerative disease. ⋯ Endplate sclerosis occurs in all kinds of MCs. With increasing grade of MCs, the incidence of endplate sclerosis gradually increased. The endplate sclerosis rate in mixed-type MCs was significantly greater than that in MC2 and significantly lower than that in MC3. The endplate sclerosis rate in the mixed-type, including MC3 (MC1/3 and MC2/3), was significantly greater than that in the MC1/2.

Ultrasound-Guided Resection of High-Grade Gliomas: A Single-Arm Meta-Analysis.
High-grade gliomas (HGGs) present a challenge in neuro-oncology, often necessitating surgical resection for optimal management. Ultrasound holds promise in achieving better gross total resection (GTR) and improving outcomes. This meta-analysis systematically evaluates literature providing robust evidence on the use of intraoperative ultrasonography (iUSG) in HGG resection. ⋯ Our study provided robust data on the utilization of iUSG-guided resection regarding the attainment of GTR and the complications related to resection. However, challenges such as outcome heterogeneity and limited complication reporting highlight the need for further research to optimize iUSG in HGG treatment. Long-term follow-up studies on patient survival and postsurgery quality of life will complement existing literature, guiding clinical practices in managing HGG.

Posterior pedicle screw fixation with indirect decompression versus direct decompression in treating thoracolumbar burst fracture: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To compare the safety and efficacy between posterior pedicle screw fixation with direct versus indirect decompression in treating patients with thoracolumbar burst fracture. ⋯ Posterior pedicle screw fixation with indirect decompression was safe and effective for thoracolumbar burst fracture with or without neurologic deficits when posterior longitudinal ligament was intact.

Infrasellar nasopharyngeal craniopharyngiomas: an individual participant data meta-analysis and review of the literature.
Craniopharyngiomas are benign tumors of the anterior skull base arising from epithelial remnants of Rathke pouch. They mainly occur in the suprasellar space, can be incredibly debilitating, and remain difficult to resect as they frequently involve critical neurovascular structures. Although it is embryologically possible for craniopharyngiomas to arise extracranially along the entire migrational path of Rathke pouch, these remain exceedingly rare, especially among adults, and can be mistaken for nasopharyngeal cancer. As such, minimal data exist evaluating the management and outcomes of such lesions. We evaluated our institutional experience with purely infrasellar nasopharyngeal craniopharyngiomas and obtained individual patient data reported in the contemporary literature to better characterize the demographics, presentation, surgical management, and long-term outcomes of these lesions. ⋯ While uncommon, infrasellar nasopharyngeal craniopharyngiomas appear to have better perioperative and long-term surgical outcomes than their suprasellar counterparts.

Application of Machine Learning for Classification of Brain Tumors: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Classifying brain tumors accurately is crucial for treatment and prognosis. Machine learning (ML) shows great promise in improving tumor classification accuracy. This study evaluates ML algorithms for differentiating various brain tumor types. ⋯ ML demonstrated excellent performance in classifying brain tumor images, with near-maximum area under the curves, sensitivity, and specificity.
