Endovascular treatment using Onyx has been increasingly used to treat intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs). This study evaluated predictive factors for favorable treatment outcome in patients with intracranial noncavernous DAVFs treated by transarterial Onyx embolization. ⋯ Transarterial Onyx embolization is a highly effective treatment method for non-sinus DAVFs. Careful consideration of angiographic features and multimodal embolization strategies are required for treatment of sinus DAVFs.

Os odontoideum is a relatively rare but significant condition of the cervical spine that has potentially life-threatening complications, including vertebral artery dissection, leading to permanent neurologic disability and even death. Unfortunately, the literature is not clear as to the best management approach for os odontoideum. As such, clinicians and their patients are still left with difficult and uncertain treatment decisions in the absence of a clinical consensus. ⋯ This case illustrates that in the event an asymptomatic case of os odontoideum with radiological instability is managed conservatively, careful clinical and radiologic follow-up is essential as such cases can become symptomatic.

We summarized 63 cases of anterior cerebral artery (ACA) anomaly with an infraoptic course reported in the literature including abstracts written in English. All cases were reported individually, with a maximum of 3 cases. This report describes our findings in another case and opinions regarding the terminology. ⋯ Use of the terminology "infraoptic course of the ACA" versus "carotid-ACA anastomosis" was discussed. Based on the literature reports, at least one third of the cases have a normal-positioned ACA rather than the infraoptic ACA. Also, based on embryogenesis, it is thought that the infraoptic ACA is not a misplaced A1 segment, but rather persistence of an embryologic vessel. Therefore, based on the literature and embryology, we prefer the term "carotid-ACA anastomosis" rather than "infraoptic ACA." However, as a morphologic and positional description, the term "infraoptic ACA" has value. To the best of our knowledge, the present case of a carotid-ACA anastomosis associated with a paraclinoid aneurysm and ophthalmic artery originating from the middle meningeal artery is the first to appear in the literature.

Radical surgical resection of cerebral meningiomas involving the dura mater of venous sinuses is challenging, and tumor residuals are frequently left after surgery. This study sought to evaluate the effect of adjuvant stereotactic radiosurgery (aSRS) on the time to significant growth of meningioma residuals requiring retreatment. ⋯ aSRS of meningioma residuals had a positive effect on tumor control and should be considered in patients with meningioma residuals.

To investigate risk factors to predict postoperative fever after endovascular treatment of ruptured intracranial aneurysms. ⋯ Postoperative fever after coil embolization was predicted by changeable and unchangeable risk factors in subarachnoid hemorrhage. However, characteristic features of aneurysms and the coiling procedure had no impact on development of postoperative fever. Preventing any infectious complications, lowering temperature before embolization, and draining bloody cerebrospinal fluid may assist in the prevention of subsequent fever.
