In preliminary studies, advanced intracranial stents appear to have a favorable safety profile for intracranial aneurysm treatment. This dual-center study is a head-to-head comparison of the low-profile Acandis Acclino stent (a third-generation stent) and the first- and second-generation Enterprise stent. ⋯ The results indicate a favorable safety profile of the Acclino over the Enterprise, justifying the use of advanced stent systems in clinical practice. However, further comparative studies of the Acclino and other competing stent systems are needed to draw a definitive conclusion on the state of stent-assisted coiling.

We aim to assess the incidence and impact of in-hospital medical complications (MCs) on clinical outcomes in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients after endovascular therapy (EVT). ⋯ MCs in AIS patients after EVT have a high incidence, despite successful reperfusion, adversely affecting clinical outcomes and increasing short-term mortality.

Minimally Invasive Techniques in the Surgical Management of Traumatic Pediatric Thoracolumbar Fractures.
Thoracolumbar (TL) fractures are uncommon in children. While surgical treatment is recommended for unstable TL fractures, there is no consensus on appropriate surgical treatment. We present a case series of pediatric patients with traumatic TL fractures treated with minimally invasive techniques. We discuss our early experience and technical challenges with navigation and robotic-assisted fixation. ⋯ Our early experience shows that short segment instrumentation through a minimally invasive approach is a safe and effective surgical option for young pediatric patients with good clinical outcomes and favorable radiographic postoperative finding.

Traumatic cervical spinal cord injury (tCSCI) is often a debilitating injury, making early prognosis important for medical and surgical planning. Currently, the best early predictors of prognosis are physical examination, imaging studies, and patient demographics. Despite these factors, patient outcomes continue to vary significantly. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) with functional outcomes in tCSCI patients. ⋯ The detection of lower extremity SSEP signals during initial surgical treatment of tCSCI is associated with greater improvement in ASIA motor scores postoperatively. The association is most applicable to patients with complete injury.
