We sought to investigate the value of a clinical-radiomics model based on magnetic resonance imaging in differentiating fibroblastic meningiomas from non-fibroblastic meningiomas. ⋯ The diagnostic efficacy of the clinical-radiomics model of fibroblastic meningioma and non-fibroblastic meningioma was better than that of the radiomics prediction model alone and can be used as a potential tool for clinical surgical planning and evaluation of patient prognosis.

Surgical outcomes for functional vestibulocochlear diseases vary, and the influencing factors are not fully understood. The role of a rhomboid lip (RL) and choroid plexus (CP) in microvascular decompression (MVD) of the vestibulocochlear nerve has not been studied. This study aims to evaluate the surgical efficacy of MVD for vestibulocochlear diseases, with and without addressing the RL and CP, to enhance our understanding of their etiology. ⋯ MVD is generally considered a useful treatment for VP and could also be effective in managing recurrent vertigo caused by BPPV and MD. Our results highlight the potential role of an abnormal RL and CP in the development of vertigo symptoms. Patients presenting with "tinnitus" require further investigation and might not be suitable for MVD.

To assist doctors in making better treatment decisions and improve patient prognosis, it is important to determine which therapy modalities are suitable for various forms of idiopathic hypertrophic cranial pachymeningitis (IHCP). ⋯ The extent and shape of the lesion and susceptibility to corticosteroids are potential factors that could influence recurrence. Futhermore, this paper also proposes the fibroblasts as a new therapeutic target which may improve the quality of prognostic survival of patients.

The external ventricular drain (EVD) is an important instrument in managing patients in neurointensive care (NICU). A frequent and sometimes severe complication is ventriculostomy-related infection (VRI). This study aimed to evaluate the effects of biweekly VRI screening by CSF sampling on the clinical course and rate of VRI. ⋯ Screening was associated with a higher number of culture-confirmed VRI cases. In addition, screening did not detect VRI at an earlier stage and was not associated with a reduction in the rate of permanent hydrocephalus. No clinical benefit of screening was found. Frequent CSF sampling might contribute to infection. Based on these findings, CSF screening for VRI cannot be recommended.

This study sought to quantify radiographic differences in psoas morphology, great vessel anatomy, and lumbar lordosis between supine and prone intraoperative positioning to optimize surgical planning and minimize the risk of neurovascular injury. ⋯ Relative to the vertebral body, the psoas demonstrated substantial lateral mobility when prone, and posterior retraction specifically at L5. IVC and right iliac vein experienced significant anterior mobility-particularly at more cephalad levels. Prone position enhanced segmental lordosis and may be critical to optimizing sagittal restoration.
