We aimed to explore the prognostic significance of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) variables and novel inflammatory indicators in predicting neurological recovery post-cervical traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) in the study. ⋯ Intramedullary hemorrhage and IMLL and NLR are predictors of AIS grade conversion after cervical TSCI. Therefore, we suggest the combination of MRI variables and NLR for the prognostic prediction of AIS grade conversion in patients with cervical TSCI.

Chronic low back pain, affecting up to 58% of the population, often stems from intervertebral disc degeneration. Although magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is commonly used for diagnostics, challenges arise in pinpointing pain sources due to frequent asymptomatic findings. Single-photon emission tomography (SPECT) integrated with computed tomography (CT) offers a promising approach, enhancing sensitivity and specificity. ⋯ This comprehensive study, the largest of its kind, establishes a significant link between SPECT/CT positivity and advanced lumbar degenerative changes. Higher Pfirrmann grades and increased Rajasekaran endplate damage demonstrated substantial correlations with SPECT/CT positivity. Notably, MCs did not exhibit such association. Our findings underscore the potential of SPECT/CT in identifying pain generators in degenerative spinal conditions, offering valuable insights for future interventions.

Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) can lead to significant morbidity and are particularly challenging to manage in resource-limited settings where endovascular treatment modalities are unaffordable for most patients. ⋯ Good clinicoradiologic outcomes can be achieved through microsurgery in a setting where endovascular treatment is inaccessible to patients due to limited resources.

Cerebrofacial Venous Metameric Syndrome Mimicking Vein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformation.
Cerebrofacial venous metameric syndrome (CVMS) is a complex low-flow vascular malformation affecting bone and soft tissues including brain, dura mater, and eye. We show images of CVMS in an 18-month-old boy presenting facial venous malformations, developmental venous anomalies, dural sinus malformations, and dilated great cerebral vein, suggesting a vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation. Although Sturge-Weber syndrome is the most known form of CVMS, its presentations are variable and include several venous malformations. Recognizing the various manifestations of CVMS is necessary for adequate screening, treatment, and follow-up.

Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are a challenging pathology in pediatric patients, carrying a high risk of morbidity and mortality. Treatment modalities include resection, endovascular embolization, and stereotactic radiosurgery. There is currently no consensus favoring one modality over another. Timing of multimodal therapy with embolization/stereotactic radiosurgery and resection is not well explored in the literature. We present a series of pediatric patients with AVMs, with special attention directed to the timing of treatment. ⋯ We present our institution's experience with pediatric AVMs, focusing on the timing of treatment. Based on our experience, early treatment of AVMs seems to be safe and effective regardless of rupture status.
