Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is more prevalent in postmenopausal women, and it has been postulated that this relationship is hormonally driven by lower circulating levels of estrogens. We examined the association between circulating plasma estrogen levels and subsequent development of aSAH in women. ⋯ In this study, we did not find an association between estrogen levels and the incidence of aSAH in women.

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) has an incidence of 6-7 per 100,000 person-years. Despite advancements in treatment, 26% of patients die and 19% remain dependent after hemorrhage. Long-term neuropsychological sequelae affect about half of the survivors, significantly affecting their quality of life. This study aims to assess aSAH characteristics and identify predictive factors of clinical outcomes in young patients. ⋯ Young patients with aSAH show distinct characteristics and prognostic factors compared with older patients. Despite higher postoperative complications, young patients generally have better outcomes, emphasizing the need for age-specific management strategies in aSAH.

Radiographic methods for evaluating skeletal maturity traditionally include the Risser sign and the hand-wrist maturation method. While the cervical vertebral maturation (CVM) stage is widely recognized in orthodontics, its application in assessing spinal growth, particularly in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), has been less explored. This study explores the correlation between CVM, chronological age, and the Risser sign to evaluate the feasibility of CVM in assessing skeletal development in adolescents. ⋯ The CVM stage, which shows a strong correlation with Risser sign grading, could serve as a reliable alternative for assessing skeletal maturity in adolescent subjects, particularly in clinical scenarios where minimizing radiation exposure is a priority.

Sole Stenting Versus Stent-Assisted Coiling For Treating Dissecting Posterior Circulation Aneurysms: A Systematic Review And Meta-Analysis.
Among the reconstructive methods for treating dissecting posterior circulation aneurysms, there are stent-assisted coiling (SAC), and sole stenting (SS) therapy. Despite SAC being widely employed when compared to SS, no study systematically analyzed the difference in their outcomes. ⋯ The findings suggest there is no substantial basis for favoring SAC over SS across all cases. Instead, an individualized approach should be considered, according to the patient's characteristics, surgeon skills, and the available material.

Incidence and Risk Factors of Delayed Intracranial Hemorrhage in Anticoagulated Head Trauma Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
This study aims to provide a current and comprehensive analysis of the incidence of delayed intracerebral hemorrhage (dICH) in head trauma patients on oral anticoagulants (ACs) and to evaluate various potential risk factors. ⋯ A low incidence of dICH requires neurosurgical intervention; however, further studies are required to assess the need for other medical management in these patients. Furthermore, selective imaging for high-risk patients could improve care and resource allocation.
