A reliable test that facilitates the accurate diagnosis of Parkinson's and disorders will help with both, clinical management and therapeutic research. In this context, neurofilament light chain (NFL) is candidate for a biomarker in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). A comprehensive literature search yielded 4 eligible studies. ⋯ These studies were homogeneous (P=0.17). NFL in CSF in PSP was significantly elevated relative to PD with homogeneous studies (standardized mean difference=2.04, P<0.0001; P=0.99). The present meta-analysis suggested that NFL concentration in CSF in MSA and PSP was significantly increased relative to PD, and that this could help us to separate PD from atypical parkinsonian syndromes.

Effect of cilostazol in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Previous studies with small sample size have shown that cilostazol can reduce the risk of cerebral vasospasm in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). The purpose of this study was to determine whether cilostazol is effective in patients with aneurysmal SAH. Studies investigating the effect of cilostazol in patients with aneurysmal SAH were identified using Embase.com without language or publication-type restrictions. ⋯ Mortality rate differences between the two groups were insignificant. No statistical heterogeneity was found for all outcomes. These results show that cilostazol can decrease the incidence of symptomatic vasospasm, severe vasospasm, vasospasm-related new cerebral infarctions, and poor outcome in patients with aneurysmal SAH.

Association of 231G>A polymorphism of endothelin type A receptor gene with migraine: a meta-analysis.
Vascular dysfunction is implied in migraine. Endothelin type A receptor (EDNRA) is a receptor for endothelin-1, a potent vasoconstrictor. Several studies have investigated the association between EDNRA -231G>A SNP and migraine, but showed conflicting results. This study aimed to evaluate the association between EDNRA -231A allele and migraine by meta-analysis. ⋯ This meta-analysis provides evidence suggesting a significant association between EDNRA -231G>A polymorphism and migraine.

Thrombolysis rate and impact of a stroke code: a French hospital experience and a systematic review.
Intravenous rt-PA is effective in hyperacute ischemic stroke (HAIS) but is administered only in few patients. ⋯ Thrombolysis rate of HAIS is improved by a SC, especially when a prenotification system of thrombolysis candidates by Emergency Medical Services to the stroke unit is used.

Association of 5-HTT gene polymorphisms with migraine: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Serotonin is known to play an important role in the pathogenesis of migraine, but individual genetic association studies that examine the relationship between polymorphisms of serotonin transporter (5-HTT) gene and migraine have yielded inconsistent results. This study aimed to evaluate the association between 5-HTT gene variants (including 5-HTTLPR, VNTR and SNP) and migraine using systematic review with meta-analysis. ⋯ Existing evidence indicates that the 5-HTT VNTR polymorphism (mainly the STin2.12 genotype) is associated with an increased risk of migraine in the general population. Future studies with larger sample sizes will be necessary to confirm the present results.
