Meta AnalysisProbiotics in the prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea in children: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
To systematically evaluate the effectiveness of probiotics in preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) in children. ⋯ Probiotics reduce the risk of AAD in children. For every 7 patients that would develop diarrhea while being treated with antibiotics, one fewer will develop AAD if also receiving probiotics.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Premature Infants in Need of Transfusion (PINT) study: a randomized, controlled trial of a restrictive (low) versus liberal (high) transfusion threshold for extremely low birth weight infants.
To determine whether extremely low birth weight infants (ELBW) transfused at lower hemoglobin thresholds versus higher thresholds have different rates of survival or morbidity at discharge. ⋯ In extremely low birth weight infants, maintaining a higher hemoglobin level results in more infants receiving transfusions but confers little evidence of benefit.

Quality of life and psychological adjustment in children and adolescents with neurofibromatosis type 1.
To assess quality of life (QoL) and psychological adjustment in children and adolescents with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). ⋯ QoL and psychological adjustment are impaired in children and adolescents with NF1. Illness-related variables and the quality of family relationships are important predictors.
