Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyInfliximab for intravenous immunoglobulin resistance in Kawasaki disease: a retrospective study.
To test the hypothesis that first re-treatment with infliximab, compared with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), might improve outcomes in IVIG-resistant Kawasaki disease. ⋯ In our retrospective study, patients with IVIG-resistant Kawasaki disease whose first re-treatment was with infliximab, compared with IVIG, had faster resolution of fever and fewer days of hospitalization. Coronary artery outcomes and adverse events were similar; the power of the study was limited.

Prevalence of tobacco use and association between cardiometabolic risk factors and cigarette smoking in youth with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus.
To examine prevalence of tobacco use and coexistence of cardiometabolic risk factors according to smoking status in youth with diabetes mellitus. ⋯ Tobacco use is prevalent in youth with diabetes mellitus. Aggressive tobacco prevention and cessation programs should be a high priority to prevent or delay the development of cardiovascular disease.

Management and outcomes in pediatric patients presenting with acute fulminant myocarditis.
To investigate factors associated with mechanical circulatory support and survival in patients with acute fulminant myocarditis (AFM). ⋯ Patients with AFM with end organ dysfunction or arrhythmias on admission may require mechanical circulatory support. The transplant-free survival rate in this critically ill cohort was excellent (80%).
