Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialShort-term outcome of newborn infants: spinal versus general anesthesia for elective cesarean section. A prospective randomized study.
To compare general and spinal anesthesia with respect to the short-term outcome of newborns born by elective cesarean deliveries. ⋯ Anesthesia type does not seem to influence the short-term outcome of the newborn infants for the elective cesarean deliveries. We believe that both spinal and general anesthesia could be performed in elective term cesarean deliveries without any risk to the newborn infants.

Postoperative day 3 serum human chorionic gonadotropin decline as a predictor of persistent ectopic pregnancy after linear salpingotomy.
To evaluate the ability of preoperative clinical, ultrasonographic, intraoperative findings and pre-postoperative serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels to predict persistent ectopic pregnancy (EP). ⋯ Postoperative serum hCG follow-up is important after salpingotomy to prevent persistent EP. A decline of less than 55% at day 3 predicts persistent EP and may select early cases for second line methotrexate therapy.
