There is a lack of high-quality evidence that proves that nutritional interventions during critical illness reduce mortality. ⋯ Overestimates of delta occur frequently in RCTs of nutritional interventions in the critically ill that are powered to determine a mortality benefit. Delta inflation may explain the number of "negative" studies in this field of research.

Erratum for Prado et al. A population-based approach to define body-composition phenotypes. ⋯ Tables S7–S17 in the Online Supporting Material had incorrect numbers listed in them for the decile values of fat mass and appendicular skeletal muscle mass utilizing the LMS statistical procedure. Corrected tables have been provided.

High intake of whole grains has been associated with lower risk of coronary heart disease; however, the research that has been used to evaluate different effects of different whole-grain cereals (e.g., wheat, rye, and oats) has been sparse. ⋯ In this study, we provide support for the hypothesis that whole-grain intake is related to lower risk of myocardial infarction and suggest that the cereals rye and oats might especially hold a beneficial effect.
