Multicenter StudyThe long-term survival of robotic lobectomy for non-small cell lung cancer: A multi-institutional study.
Our objective is to report the world's largest series with the longest follow-up of robotic lobectomy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ The oncologic results of robotic lobectomy for NSCLC are promising, especially for patients with pathologic N2 disease. However, further follow-up and studies are needed.

Multicenter StudyOne-year outcomes after rapid-deployment aortic valve replacement.
The goals of rapid-deployment aortic valve replacement include facilitation of minimally invasive surgery and reduced aortic crossclamp time. We report the short-term outcomes of a series of 493 patients undergoing rapid-deployment aortic valve replacement with the EDWARDS INTUITY valve system (Edwards Lifesciences, LLC, Irvine, Calif). ⋯ These results demonstrate commendable safety and performance of the test valve system over the short term in a broad European setting.

Randomized Controlled TrialA prospective randomized trial of the cut-and-sew Maze procedure in patients undergoing surgery for rheumatic mitral valve disease.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the addition of the cut-and-sew Maze III procedure (CSM) for mitral valve replacement (MVR) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) associated with rheumatic mitral valve disease (RMVD). ⋯ Addition of the CSM to an MVR procedure can decrease the risk of stroke or death and high sinus rhythm at 1 year without increasing the operative risk. CSM is a safe and effective approach to treating AF associated with RMVD.

Observational StudyMidterm outcomes after postoperative delirium on cognition and mood in patients after cardiac surgery.
Delirium is a common neurologic complication after cardiac surgery. Our primary objective was to determine the impact of delirium on self-reported problems with midterm cognitive functioning and mood postcardiac surgery. ⋯ Postoperative delirium is associated with increased anxiety and depression at 6 to 9 months postcardiac surgery. Future investigation should seek to evaluate the utility of screening programs for affective disorders in those individuals who develop delirium in the postoperative period.

Machine-learning phenotypic classification of bicuspid aortopathy.
Bicuspid aortic valves (BAV) are associated with incompletely characterized aortopathy. Our objectives were to identify distinct patterns of aortopathy using machine-learning methods and characterize their association with valve morphology and patient characteristics. ⋯ Three distinct phenotypes of bicuspid valve-associated aortopathy were identified using machine-learning methodology. Patient characteristics and valvular dysfunction vary by phenotype, suggesting that the location of aortic pathology may be related to the underlying pathophysiology of this disease.
