[The treatment of cerebral aneurysm in elderly patients in the acute period of subarachnoid hemorrhage].
Seven hundreds and forty-nine patients after subarachnoid hemorrhage developed as a result of the rupture of cerebral aneurysm, including 117 (15.6%) people aged 60 years and over (elderly patients) and 632 (83.4%) patients younger than 60 years old, were examined. In these groups severity of a patient's state before the surgery, presence of concomitant pathology, data of instrumental examination, outcome of the surgery were compared. The fatal outcome after the surgery was higher in elderly patients than in younger ones (17.4% versus 12.4%) that might be explained by the greater severity of their state after the development of subarachnoid hemorrhage and higher incidence of hypertensive disease and other concomitant diseases. Clinically significant angiospasm and non-resorptive hydrocephalus were observed in this group most frequently.

Comparative Study[Use of keppra during the radiotherapy in patients with brain tumors and epileptic seizures after surgical treatment].
Efficacy of keppra was studied in 52 patients, aged 10-55 years, after the surgical treatment of gliomas of the brain hemispheres. The medication was used (in combination with other anticonvulsant drugs and hormones) during the radiotherapy. In 30 (57,8%) of cases epileptic seizures were before the surgery. ⋯ A clinical effect, including the decrease of seizures frequency by 48,3% (p<0,001), positive changes of quality of seizures (more simple structure, reduced time of seizures), was observed for the first 24 h and in future the state of patients was stable. All patients have completed the course of radiotherapy. The choice of dose was depended on age, body mass and dynamics of clinical and EEG data.

[The electroneuromyographic study of the radial nerve: compressive ischemic neuropathy of the posterior interosseous nerve].
The electroneuromyographic study of the posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) with determination of conduction block (CB) at the level of the upper third of the forearm using the surface electrodes has been carried out. Seven healthy volunteers, 22 patients with compressive-ischemic neuropathy (CIN) at the level of the supinator, 14 patients with the total affection of the radical nerve, aged from 21 to 64 years, have been studied. The M-response has been recorded from the extensor digitorum communis. ⋯ The focal CB was found between two stimulation points in 86,4% of patients with PIN CIN that was confirmed by the method of stepwise nerve stimulation as well. The correlation between CB and the data of the global electromyogram was revealed. In patients with the total affection of the radical nerve, the M-responses during stimulation of distal and proximal PIN points were absent and the similar M-responses were recorded by stimulation of the brachial plexus (the Erb's point and the axillary crease) as well as the inner part of the shoulder.
