ReviewTargeting Metastatic Hormone Sensitive Prostate Cancer: Chemohormonal Therapy and New Combinatorial Approaches.
Androgen deprivation therapy alone has been the standard of care for metastatic hormone sensitive prostate cancer for the last 75 years. This review focuses on recent trials and mechanisms which highlight the new paradigm of combining androgen deprivation therapy with other agents, changing the treatment of patients with prostate cancer who have advanced disease. ⋯ Combination therapy has evolved as the standard of care for metastatic hormone sensitive prostate cancer. The ideal combination is tailored to patients after individualized counseling taking into account general health and comorbid illness status.
