Clinical Trial Controlled Clinical TrialIntercostal nerve block with thoracoabdominal incision.
A double-blind study was done on 30 patients undergoing thoracoabdominal incisions for retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy in testicular carcinoma to determine the effect of intraoperative intercostal nerve block with bupivacaine. The postoperative pain, day of ambulation and day of oral fluid intake were analyzed. In this homogeneous group we found a significant reduction in the amount of postoperative analgesia required but no difference in the day of ambulation or fluid intake.

Case ReportsCase report: cystic partially differentiated nephroblastoma (Wilms tumor).
A case of a cystic partially differentiated nephroblastoma treated with combined chemotherapy after removal in a 2-month old newborn is reported. Cystic partially differentiated nephroblastoma is a newly described clinicopathologic entity, involving elements of a nephroblastoma and cystic disease, and it is believed to be a pathologic derivative of the metanephric blastema and not related to renal dysplasia. Cystic partially differentiated nephroblastoma is distinguished from multilocular cysts of the kidney by the presence of partially differentiated renal elements in the septa of cysts. The aggressive appearance of the cells led to the treatment of this tumor as potentially malignant.

Fifty women with proved multiple sclerosis were grouped according to the severity of the disease (measured urodynamically) and followed for 5 years. All patients were asymptomatic initially. ⋯ As the disease progresses in a stepwise fashion bladder symptoms become more pronounced. With current methods of treatment and followup better control of the symptoms can be expected.
