Community-based management of severe and moderate acute malnutrition during emergencies in Sri Lanka: challenges of implementation.

With the documentation of high rates of acute malnutrition in children under 5 years of age, the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka established a Nutrition Rehabilitation Program in Jaffna District of the Northern Province. ⋯ Proper targeting of feeding programs with good coverage can reduce the rates of acute malnutrition in emergencies. It is important also to consider the control of anemia in emergencies.
