The American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association and the Chinese Stroke Association guidelines are recommending intravenous alteplase intervention before endovascular thrombectomy if patients are eligible to do so but the benefits of endovascular thrombectomy are different in Chinese patients with stroke than those of the white patients. The objective of the study was to compare outcomes of patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with endovascular thrombectomy with intravenous alteplase against those treated with endovascular thrombectomy alone. ⋯ Iii TECHNICAL EFFICACY STAGE: 4.

The term "Tolosa-Hunt syndrome" (THS) has been used to refer to painful ophthalmoplegia associated with nonspecific inflammation of the cavernous sinus and many processes can result in a similar clinical picture, including infectious, inflammatory and neoplastic diseases. Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a lymphoproliferative disorder that rarely affects the central nervous system. We report a case of isolated CNS Rosai-Dorfman disease involving the cavernous sinus and presenting as "Tolosa-Hunt syndrome". ⋯ We highlight the importance of including Rosai-Dorfman disease as a differential diagnosis in cavernous sinus syndrome and demonstrate a satisfactory long-term response to steroid treatment in this disease.

Sex and age differences in isolated traumatic brain injury: a retrospective observational study.
Among the many factors that may influence traumatic brain injury (TBI) progression, sex is one of the most controversial. The objective of this study was to investigate sex differences in TBI-associated morbidity and mortality using data from the largest trauma registry in Japan. ⋯ In a nationwide sample of patients with TBI in Japan, males had a higher mortality than females. This disparity was particularly evident among younger and older generations. Furthermore, elderly males experienced more TBI complications than females of the same age.

The optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) and ONSD/eyeball transverse diameter (ETD) ratio have been proven to be correlated with intracranial pressure. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic roles of ONSD and the ONSD/ETD ratio in comatose patients with supratentorial lesions and to determine the relationship of these two indices with the prognosis of such patients. ⋯ The ONSD and ONSD/ETD ratios were elevated in comatose patients. The ONSD/ETD ratio might be more valuable than ONSD in predicting the prognoses of comatose patients with supratentorial lesions.

Non-pharmacological approaches for the management of migraine exhibit low to moderate effectiveness due to a lack of high-quality randomized clinical trials. In fact, previous studies applied isolated techniques, which were not representative of common clinical practice. A multimodal approach for migraine may benefit these patients more than isolated approaches. This randomized clinical trial aims to determine the effectiveness of a multimodal protocol combining manual therapy, exercise, and therapeutic pain neuroscience education versus the application of manual therapy or pain neuroscience education alone in patients with migraine. ⋯ The results of this randomized clinical trial may provide high-quality clinical evidence of the effects of non-pharmacological treatment options for the management of migraine.
