Fungal arthritis due to Pseudallescheria boydii (Scedosporium apiospermum).
Musculoskeletal infections by fungal agents are uncommon conditions. Pseudallescheria boydii is an ubiquitous saprophytic fungus frequently involved in maduromycosis but rarely in septic arthritis. We describe a case of Pseudallescheria boydii destructive suppurative arthritis and osteomyelitis of the knee in an adult Guadeloupean man. Osteoarticular infections due to Pseudallescheria boydii are reviewed.

Chronic salicylate intoxication and rhabdomyolysis in a patient with scleroderma and Sjögren's syndrome.
A 44-year-old woman with scleroderma and Sjögren's syndrome developed altered consciousness, acute renal failure, and rhabdomyolysis. She had no history of trauma, seizures, alcohol abuse, hyperthermia, or other possible causative factors for rhabdomyolysis. ⋯ This is possibly the first reported case of rhabdomyolysis caused by chronic salicylate intoxication. Continuous hemodiafiltration early in hospitalization was an effective treatment.

To correlate the radiographic and pathologic findings in calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) crystal deposition disease and the pseudogout syndrome in the acromioclavicular (AC) joint, a relatively infrequent, but clinically important site. ⋯ CPPD crystal deposition disease leading to pseudogout syndrome of the AC joint is a clinically significant condition. We emphasize that careful assessment of the AC joint and adjacent soft tissue using intensive bright light on routine shoulder radiographs may increase the sensitivity of detecting discal and capsular calcifications in patients with pseudogout of the shoulder.
