Analgesic efficacy and safety of tramadol/ acetaminophen combination tablets (Ultracet) in treatment of chronic low back pain: a multicenter, outpatient, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial.
To evaluate the analgesic efficacy and safety of tramadol 37.5 mg/acetaminophen 325 mg (tramadol/APAP) combination tablets for treatment of chronic low back pain (LBP). ⋯ Tramadol 37.5 mg/APAP 325 mg combination tablets show efficacy in pain reduction, in measures of physical functioning and quality of life, and in overall medication assessments, with a tolerability profile comparable with other opioids used for the treatment of chronic LBP.

Comparison of the analgesic efficacy and safety of nonprescription doses of naproxen sodium and Ibuprofen in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee.
To compare the analgesic efficacy and safety of nonprescription doses of naproxen sodium, ibuprofen, and placebo in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. ⋯ Over-the-counter doses of naproxen sodium (440/660 mg) and ibuprofen (1200 mg) effectively relieve pain in patients with mild to moderate OA of the knee. Naproxen sodium provided more effective pain relief for most variables compared with placebo, and for night pain compared with ibuprofen. Efficacy was combined with good safety and tolerability.

Pneumococcal vaccine response in psoriatic arthritis patients during treatment with etanercept.
Therapeutics used to treat inflammatory diseases, including psoriatic arthritis (PsA), may potentially interfere with normal immune system function. Immune system function can be assessed by evaluating response to vaccination. We assessed the ability of patients with PsA treated with etanercept to produce antibodies in response to pneumococcal antigen challenge. ⋯ Patients with PsA treated with etanercept were able to produce antibodies in response to pneumococcal vaccination. Patients receiving MTX had lower mean antibody levels in response to the vaccine. There was no increased risk of poor response with etanercept treatment given alone or with MTX.

Physical activity and risk of revision total knee arthroplasty in individuals with knee osteoarthritis: a matched case-control study.
To determine if physical activity was a risk factor for revision arthroplasty after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) due to osteoarthritis (OA) within the previous 15 years. ⋯ This study quantified and described patterns of physical activity in a population with TKA. Physical activity did not appear to be a risk factor for revision arthroplasty. Our results suggest that individuals undergoing primary TKA should be encouraged to remain active after surgery.

Value of Disease Activity Score 28 (DAS28) and DAS28-3 compared to American College of Rheumatology-defined remission in rheumatoid arthritis.
To assess the criteria for remission based on Disease Activity Score 28 (DAS28) and DAS28-3 (excluding patients' evaluation of disease activity) compared to American College of Rheumatology (ACR) preliminary criteria in established rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and to examine the value of each ACR criterion individually. ⋯ DAS28 and DAS28-3 are good tools to define remission in established RA. No joint pain by anamnesis is the criterion with the highest value in defining remission, while normal ESR, an absence of morning stiffness, and fatigue are the least effective.
