Caring for acute coronary syndrome and other time-sensitive medical emergencies during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in Northern Italy: report from a hub centre.
The Lombardy region, in Northern Italy, suffered a major outbreak of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at the end of February 2020. The health system was rapidly overwhelmed by the pandemic. It became evident that patients suffering from timesensitive medical emergencies like stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, trauma and acute myocardial infarction required timely, effective and safe pathways to be treated. The problem was addressed by a regional decree that created a hub-and-spoke system for time-sensitive medical emergencies. ⋯ Re-organization of a hospital in order to adopt a hub-and-spoke model resulted feasible and allowed to face acute coronary syndrome and other time-sensitive medical emergencies timely and safely.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for critically ill patients with coronavirus-associated disease 2019: an updated perspective of the European experience.
Infection due to severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), i.e. coronavirus-associated disease 2019 (COVID-2019), may occasionally lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), requiring in the most severe cases extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Yet, limited data, if any, are currently available on the role of ECMO in critically ill patients with COVID-19. We aimed at providing a snapshot analysis of ECMO for COVID-19 in Europe. ⋯ ECMO may play an important role in critically ill patients with COVID-19 refractory to less invasive treatments. The increased risk of early death in older patients may be used to prioritize ECMO indication in resource-conscious settings, if confirmed externally.

Correlation of heart rate and blood pressure variability as well as hs-CRP with the burden of stable coronary artery disease.
The aim is to investigate the predictive value of heart rate variability (HRV), blood pressure variability (BPV), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels in patients with stable coronary artery disease (SCAD) to assess whether these variables predict the Gensini score. ⋯ HRV, BPV and hs-CRP are all significantly associated with coronary lesions. And these variables can predict the Gensini score in SCAD.

ReviewCOVID-19 pandemic and cardiovascular disease: where do we stand?
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the cause of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) which recently has been characterized as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) having killed almost 250,000 people worldwide as of May 4th, 2020. Despite the fact that SARS-CoV-2 seems to predominantly affect the respiratory system leading to pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome, it is now evident that it may also affect the cardiovascular system in multiple ways. The current paper is a review of the most recent literature regarding SARS-CoV-2 infection and its associated main cardiovascular clinical manifestations. ⋯ In addition, various cardiovascular manifestations have been linked to the viral insult, including among others acute coronary syndromes, myocarditis, acute heart failure, cardiac injury, arrhythmias and acute pulmonary embolism. Further studies are required in order to establish the complicated association between SARS-CoV-2 infection and its effects on the cardiovascular system. Our knowledge regarding diagnostic approaches, therapeutic management and preventive measures is constantly enriched throughout an abundance of ongoing research in the respective fields.

Comparative StudyHangover and fatigue: effects of Robuvit® supplementation. A pilot registry study.
The aim of this open registry study was to evaluate the effects of Robuvit® in subjects with hangover after acute alcohol consumption also measuring changes in levels of oxidative stress. A group using standard management (SM) and a group using SM and Robuvit® 300 mg/day for 3 days were compared. ⋯ In conclusion, Robuvit® supplementation appears to improve hangover and relieved symptoms faster. More studies are needed to confirm this association between acute alcohol consumption and a possible hepatic dysfunction.
