A 36-month clinical experience of the effectiveness of curettage and imiquimod 5% cream in the treatment of basal cell carcinoma.
Electrodesiccation and curettage is commonly used for the treatment of basal cell carcinomas (BCCs). Does the addition of imiquimod 5% cream improve clearance rates and cosmetic outcomes? ⋯ Curettage followed by the application of imiquimod 5% cream resulted in clearance rates of 96% at an average 36 months follow-up. The treatment was well-tolerated and appears to produce a favorable cosmetic outcome.

Rosacea is a chronic, relapsing dermatologic condition that affects an estimated 14 million people in the U.S. However, there is little data in the literature on the healthcare utilization and costs of patients with rosacea in insured populations. ⋯ This is the first extensive study of rosacea and its impact on healthcare utilization and costs in an insured population. Although rosacea is a common illness that does not have much financial impact on its sufferers, rosacea patients incurred slightly higher direct total healthcare costs than matched controls.
