[Reasonably good results of Hansson's pins in elderly patients with a medial femoral neck fracture].
To establish the result of treatment of medial femoral neck fractures in patients aged 70 years and older using Hansson pins introduced percutaneously. ⋯ Treatment of a medial femoral neck fracture in elderly patients by means of internal fixation with percutaneously introduced Hansson pins gives results similar to those of other types of internal fixation. This is a good operation for Garden grades I and II fractures, whereas in Garden grades III and IV fractures in which repositioning is impossible, internal fixation should be refrained from and a head-neck prosthesis should be implanted in one session.

Case Reports[The remitting seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting edema (RS3PE) syndrome].
RS3PE syndrome was diagnosed in a 83-year-old man with seronegative symmetrical polysynovitis with pitting oedema, which presented after a vehement acute beginning a remarkably favourable course. RS3PE syndrome, recently described, is characterized by a transient seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting oedema. ⋯ After a frequently acute crippling beginning, the prognosis is good. Plain and brief treatment will suffice.

Case Reports[Intrathecal administration of morphine and bupivacaine in the treatment of severe pain in chronic pancreatitis].
A 25-year-old male with idiopathic chronic pancreatitis suffered from severe pain not reacting to medical therapy. Intractable pain persisted after the following procedures: subtotal resection of the pancreas, interpleural administration of bupivacaine, epidural administration of bupivacaine, and thoracoscopic sympathectomy. ⋯ With this pump the patient was fully ambulant. Intrathecal administration of morphine and bupivacaine through an implanted pump is a possible new technique for pain management in chronic pancreatitis.

Case Reports[Fatal arrhythmia following administration of suxamethonium in a postpartum woman subsequently found to have dystrophia myotonica].
A 28-year-old woman died of irreversible ventricular fibrillation after administration of succinylcholine because of post partum curettage. Afterwards it became known she had undiagnosed myotonic dystrophy. ⋯ Succinylcholine given to patients with myotonic dystrophy may lead to life threatening hyperkalaemia and cardiac arrest. Therapy should be aimed at immediate lowering of serum K+ concentration with calcium, sodium bicarbonate and hyperventilation.
