To analyze the appropriate treatment methods or timing to use epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and brain radiation treatment (RT) for symptomatic and asymptomatic brain metastases (BM) in patients with EGFR mutation non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ Our research indicated that delayed brain RT may result in inferior iPFS in EGFR mutated NSCLC patients with asymptomatic brain metastases, but no OS benefit was obtained. In addition, our study revealed that patients treated with SRS had a significantly longer OS for symptomatic BM. Future prospective study of the optimal management strategy with WBRT or SRS and TKI for this patient cohort is urgently needed.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to have great importance in cancer development and progression. However, the mechanism of lncRNAs in epithelial ovarian cancer remains unclear. In the present study, we aimed to explore the role of the lncRNA myocardial infarction-associated transcript (MIAT) in epithelial ovarian cancer tumorigenesis. ⋯ LncRNA MIAT was found to be a tumor oncogenic lncRNA in epithelial ovarian cancer tumorigenesis. LncRNA MIAT promoted cell proliferation and inhibited cell apoptosis by negative regulation of miR-330-5p in epithelial ovarian cancer cells. Our findings suggested that MIAT might act as a candidate prognostic biomarker and new therapeutic target for treating epithelial ovarian cancer patients.

The goals of successful bi-compartmental knee arthroplasty are to achieve correct fit and positioning of the implant, while appropriately correcting the mechanical alignment of the leg after surgery. As these requirements are not always reliably fulfilled using off-the-shelf implant systems, newer approaches for bi-compartmental resurfacing have been explored. ⋯ Custom-made bicompartmental knee arthroplasty can ensure optimized fitting and positioning of the implant with restoration of the leg axis. These implants could be considered as an alternative primary solution for knee surgeons treating bi-compartmental disease.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for approximately 85% of all lung cancer cases. PAQR (progestin and adipoQ receptor family) 3, a Golgi-anchored membrane protein, has been demonstrated to act as a tumor suppressor in multiple cancers. However, the expression and role of PAQR3 have never been explored in NSCLC. The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression and role of PAQR3 in NSCLC. ⋯ Our findings suggest that PAQR3 is a tumor suppressor in the development of NSCLC and may serve as a novel therapeutic target in the treatment of patients with NSCLC.

MiR-216b inhibits pancreatic cancer cell progression and promotes apoptosis by down-regulating KRAS.
Pancreatic cancer is a highly lethal malignancy with high invasion metastasis, which is difficult to diagnose and treat. MicroRNA-216b (miR-216b) plays an important role in many types of tumors. In this study, we explore how miR-216b affected human pancreatic cancer cell development by targeting KRAS. ⋯ MiR-216b might inhibit pancreatic cancer cell progression and stimulate apoptosis by silencing KRAS.
