Breast cancer is the major leading cause of death from cancer among women. Given the drug resistance seen during the treatment of this disease, it is very important to identify new therapies and new anticancer drugs. Some studies indicate the cytotoxic effects of cyanidin 3-glycoside (C3G). Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the anticancer effect of C3G in the treatment of the MCF-7 cell line. ⋯ The results of this study demonstrated that C3G has apoptotic and cytotoxic effects on breast cancer cells. Therefore, it is likely that this substance could be a suitable option for cancer therapy.

Sodium is the main cation in the extracellular space. In physiological conditions, sodium concentration in plasma is 135-145 mmol/l. The kidneys play the most important role in the regulation of sodium homeostasis. ⋯ Treatment of hyponatremia depends on the degree and duration (acute or chronic) of hyponatremia as well as presence of clinical symptoms. Too rapid correction of hyponatremia might result in a potentially fatal osmotic demyelinating syndrome. In the present review paper, pathophysiology and management of hyponatremia in patients with arterial hypertension are discussed.

The prognosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is poor, with a limited survival time. In this study, we aimed to examine expression levels of genes selected from relevant literature and to utilize in silico methods to determine genes whose expression could reflect the prognosis of patients with MPM by ex-vivo validation experiments. ⋯ High HAS2 and SESN1 expressions and low MDK are potential biomarkers of good prognosis in MPM. High HAS2 and SESN1 expression and low MDK and FBLN3 can also be utilized as biomarkers of good prognosis for epithelioid MPM. Those results should be further investigated in sera, plasma, and pleural effusions.
