Severe cardiac events induced by combination immunotherapy in patients with cancer: a meta-analysis.
The use of combined immunotherapy could increase non-severe and severe cardiac events in patients with cancer. To examine the occurrence of severe cardiac adverse events of combined immunotherapy compared to single immunotherapy, we analysed 4 electronic databases from inception to August 2021. ⋯ Our meta-analysis shows that the risk of severe cardiac adverse events with combined immunotherapy seems similar to single immunotherapy, but the evidence is very uncertain. Therefore, more RCTs with longer follow-ups and adequately powered to assess cardiac adverse events are needed to confirm these findings.

The comparative efficacy of pulmonary surfactant in the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome in preterm infants remains unclear. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of different pulmonary surfactant in the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome in preterm infants and to provide an evidence-based reference for clinical use. ⋯ Compared with beractant, other pulmonary surfactants are more effective to reduce the mortality of respiratory distress syndrome in preterm infants. Surfactant A drugs appeared to have the best efficacy in reducing mortality of respiratory distress syndrome in preterm infants.

Stroke is a major noninfectious disease that endangers patients' health. About 83% of patients have some degree of balance dysfunction. Rehabilitation training is an effective means to improve the balance function of stroke patients. The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess which of the eight rehabilitation training methods was more effective in promoting balance recovery. ⋯ This results suggested that core stability was more beneficial for improving balance function in stroke patients.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of gene expression epigenetic regulators that play roles in regulating genes involved in cholesterol homeostasis, including low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) and PCSK9; therefore, miRNAs have been suggested as potential therapeutic targets for treating cardiometabolic disorders. Thus, the present study aimed to assess the effect of immunotherapy with the PCSK9 peptide vaccine on the hepatic expression levels of microRNAs associated with the LDLR pathway, including miRNA-27a, miRNA-30c, and miRNA-191, in normal vaccinated mice. ⋯ According to the findings, the PCSK9 peptide vaccine could effectively reduce the hepatic expression level of miRNA-27a and may be helpful in the management of LDL-C level and atherosclerosis, which may be mediated through the LDLR pathway.

Oxidized regenerated cellulose-based (ORC - TABOTAMP), oxidized non-regenerated cellulose-based (ONRC - RESORBA CELL), and gelatin-based (GELA - GELITA TUFT-IT) hemostats are commonly used in surgery. However, their impact on the wound healing process remains largely unexplored. We here assess time-dependent effects of exposure to these hemostats on fibroblast-related wound healing processes. ⋯ Short-term exposure to ORC and ONRC impairs relevant wound healing-related processes in fibroblasts, and alters protein levels of key mediating cytokines. GELA does not show similar effects. We conclude that GELA may be preferred over ORC and ONRC over short-, intermediate- and long-term exposures. Future validation of the clinical relevance is warranted.
